because they have such high moral standards or because they haven't confronted themselves with a real temptation!?

I don't think ANY religious people are "virtuous" by way of their "religiousness!.!.!."

I've met Atheists, Agnostics, AND religious people who are "virtuous" by their consistent "overall good character & kind actions" towards people!.!.!.

I don't care if a person is religious or not!.!.!.what seems obvious to me (but not so obvious to others) is that what makes a person "virtuous" is their "willingness" to "acknowledge" what various "past temptations" they have succumbed to!.!.!.and are "still willing" to succumb to!.!.!.

But to me, "temptations" are simply "Built-In DNA" urges all of us humans have from time to time by "virtue" of our "evolutionary savage past," which shows us that although we think we are "above" animalistic urges by "virtue" of our superior brain intelligence, we are actually NOT above those things, and we are still (despite our longing to want to separate ourselves from the rest of the "mammalian animal kingdom) essentially "animals," albeit!.!.!.superior "thinking" ones!.!.!.

We are the most intelliegent "animal" on the planet, that is true, but we are still essentially!.!.!.

i think running away from a temptation IS a victory over it!.

if you believe the bible, it says we will never be tempted beyond what we can stand!. most of the time when we say "i couldn't stand it, i had to give in," we're being overdramatic!. doesnt matter how much you're attracted to your boyfriend, there's always a moment where you decide to indulge or abstain!.

but since everyone sins, we all indulge temptations at some point!. there's no shame in being virtuous and then stumbling!. so anyway, YES, there is a theoretical person who could always choose abstain over indulge, but i think the few who would come close to that religious ideal would be big targets!. all temptation comes from satan, and satan wants to see everyone stumble, so he would send very difficult and confusing temptations to those few!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

it's all about faith!. the more you beat up temptations, the stronger your faith is, the more religious you'd appeal!. being 'religious' isn't something that's enough with religious knowledge and preach!. it isn't sumthing that people can choose to entitled themselves either!. it's upon how you pursue on this life!. religious studies' scholar might be a few number of people, but certainly being religious is an open chance for everyone!. this world isn't something like a reality TV show where the place is limited!.it's for everyone, and everyone could work on to be virtuous!. it's all about resisting temptations and get level up!. the difference is just, whether people are interested at it or not!. but speaking of ability, yes, we actually could!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The majority!.!.!.!.no!. I've seen plenty of people walk out of church and go do things that could hardly be called virtuous!. Those are the hypocrites!.!.!.!.nothing worse than a hypocrite!.

I know religious people and non-religious people!.!.!.!.who are all good people!. I've also run into some of each that are pretty bad people!.

Personally, I believe in God, but I also believe in 'live and let live'!. Most people try to do the right thing, whether or not they attend church!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

,,,No, I don't!.!.!.I think the majority of people with sincere Faith (not to be confused with Religion) know only too well what temptations are flying around out there and have not been immune to it's lure!.!.!.the "giving in" to the lure is another matter!.!.!.for belief is finding strength to resist!.!.!.yet, when resistance fails, then forgiveness must prevail!.!.!.or at least it shouldWww@QuestionHome@Com

Virtue is not born of avoiding temptation, but of succumbing to the temptation to allow one's actions to benefit the greater good!.

Often, it seems that myopic religiosity can blind one's eyes to the greater good & leave them tending only to the good of those who agree with them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
