Why do we desire power!? We desire power because power allows us to capture what we love, to hold onto what we love, to rid of what we hate, and to avoid what we hate!. We don't desire powerlessness because powerlessness does not allow us to capture what we love, doesn't allow us to hold onto what things we love, doesn't allow us to rid of what we hate, and doesn't allow us to avoid what we hate!. All creatures want the power to shape the world in a way that gives them pleasure!. Some people want to shape the world in similar/compatible ways (friends/comrades/countrymen), and others want to shape the world in different/incompatible ways (enemies/competitors)!. When you have the power to shape an aspect of the world as you wish, your friends(those who want to shape the world in the same way as you) view your power as a blessing; but your enemies (those who want to shape the world in a different way than you) view your power as a threat!. It is your enemies, and your enemies alone who view your power as "wrong"!. The only people who fear your power and call it evil, are those people who desire a different world than you do!. Those with different values than you!. Those who do not desire the world that you desire!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

When people have this great power in their lives it can have a number of effects!. In many cases, people relate and see power directly connected to control!. And if we are in a relationship with someone and we have that power and control, we tend to manipulate the person into doing what we want and thinking what we want!. This control and manipulation is a form of abuse, and it is sad that both parties end up walking away in a lot of pain!. What happened to being in a relationship and letting your partner be themselves!?

I think power in our lives is a type of wonderful energy!. When we are in power we are in a better place, we love our lives, and I believe it is like a natural addictive drug!. Power gives us self confidence, and that edge to step outside the box and do anything we desire!.

I think power is a wonderful thing when it is not accompanied by negative control over others lives!.

I assume that we desire power in order to receive assistance accomplishing tasks that we cannot or would prefer not to do ourselves!.

I'm betting the how one utilizes one's authority and power is more important ethically!. I'm sure that seeking power just for the possession of power is pointless, however, and historically has led to all sorts of atrocities!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

"Power" in the social context is such a ponderous and riddled term, but I won't try to define it right now!.

In my view: psychologically, Power confers the feeling that one has trampled the confines of society, maybe even the confines of man (as part of society)!. And perhaps in trampling the confines of man (that is, having the power to exert influence or impose upon other people, and therefore be "above" them) one feels that he has trampled the finite and feeble nature of man--"above" the nature of man!. And in overcoming these "human" confines, one experiences a moment that perhaps he has cheated death/nature/fate or whatever!.

Power gives the experience that one is more than oneself!.
But kings and peasants die alike and it is not quite certain who dies a more dignified death in the end from a historical perspective!.

In short, my view is that power is a psychological experience (more than anything) that allows one to feel a moment of mock-immortality!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Because power implies control and (often mistakenly)means respect!. If we are respected AND have control over our environment and those around us then we get what we want (again this is often mistakenly assumed)!. Now then what is it we want!? Money, love (or just sex) and of course more power!. Having power in and of itself is not necessarily a bad thing!. However corruption and abuse of power is a bad thing!.
Someone has to have power, otherwise nations would fall,
wars would last forever, civilization would to succomb to anarchy!.!.!.oh s**t!! Thats happening now with the current oval office idiot isn't it!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
