Question: Do sons cause fathers!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
A man prior to having a son is not a "father!." This man only becomes a father after the birth of his son!. So yes, sons cause fathers!.
For example, my wife and I want to have children, yet, at this point in time (A) we do not have any!. Although we can assume anything is possible to happen between now (A) and a given point in the future (X), but let's assume because of our desire to have children that any given point in the future (X) my wife and I will in fact have children!.
Now, if it were the case that fathers cause sons, I in the present "I(A)," being son-less" could still be called a father; a "father" who will at (X) cause a son to come into existence!.
This is however extremely problematic in more ways than one, for I being son-less am not a father!. For one to be a father, having a son is required!.
Thus, when I at (X), "I(X)," happen to have either produced biologically, or acquired via adoption, a male-child (i!.e!. "son") I will become a father!. My acquisition of the title "father" depends wholeheartedly on my having a son (a priori)!.
"Father" is a posteriori to son!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
