There are many ways that humanity _could_ end, though only a few of them are actually feasible!. Most of the means of destruction currently in vogue, like global warming or 2012, are pretty much nothing but hysteria with zero chance of ending humanity!.

Global warming: even the extreme worst-case scenarios, which are also the most extremely unlikely scenarios, might end human civilization, but no one in the scientific community is predicting that it could actually extinct our species!. The most likely scenario involves some light disruption to our civilization and moderate disruption to our economies!.

Asteroid strike big enough to extinct us: extremely unlikely in the next century!. Beyond that, our technology should have advanced more than enough to deal with any potential future collisions!.

Sun eventually swelling up at the end of its life: by the time this happens, humans will have long ago evolved into another species, so technically it wouldn't be us that would be affected!. Nonetheless, I'm pretty confident that we or our descendant species will have become a spacefaring race long before then, and will have spread out to the cooler outer planets, maybe even to other star systems!.

While our continued existence is by no means guaranteed, I think the most likely means by which humans will cease to exist is by evolving into a new species!. Everything will continuously get worse and worse until we turn on each other and kill each other!. In the end it will probably be a nuclear war!. Tensions are already high EVERYWERE!. Countries need oil so they will/ already have gone to war for it!. The US is starting to have trouble providing water for its entire population!. (Water is the next oil)!. They will first ask nicely but eventually as drinkable water is being drunken far more quickly then the earth can re-supply it, we will go to war for it!. Meanwhile, over population will create tension and violence!. Countries will want to expand its borders!. We will go to war for land!. Because of all this violence the cost of everything will rise!. Poverty will drastically increase!. As population and the desperate need to find alternative fuels increases, food will become even scarcer!. We may go to war for that!. Then some person will send a nuke and be like there!.!.!. no more need for oil, no more need for water, no more need for food, no more need for land! Of course that country will probably respond right before they all die by sending a nuke to the other country!. The United Nations will condemn this and send a nuke to this country too in fear that they will be next and in return may get a nuke themselves!. Global warming will get drastically worse because of all the bombs and fires!. So anyone left will probably die!. If not from a natural disaster then from trying to drink contaminated water that has chemicals in it and stuff from bombs!. I have a lovely outlook don't I!? If all of this stuff I said doesn’t happen, I can guarantee it wasn't because of some super hero or politician!. I will be because the scientists have found an alternative energy and made mars habitable so people can live there and earth will be less crowded and stop using up all of our natural resources so quickly so that they can renew themselves!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The sun will grow and grow, and probably consume earth!. If it does not grow this big as a red giant, it will eventually collapse in on itself, and if it does not become a black hole when it collapses we will still freeze to death!.
