Question: How do you deal with difficult or uncomfortable memories!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Your subconscious mind will start to create pathways to uncomfortable memories naturally!. For example you see a certain object and then you start thinking of someone who passed, these kind of connections get stronger and stronger as it upsets you!. Every time you see the certain object you think of your bad memory!. Instead, you can use your conscious mind and train your brain: every time you see the object you think of something that you wish to succeed at or achieve!. At first you will still go to the bad thought but soon you will re wire your pathways of the brain and instantly the sight of the trigger will bring you happiness!.

Or if its a bad memory then every time you think about it force your mind to think about a positive goal!. Its hard at first but its like going to the gym, your muscles will get stronger and you will master you mind!. Soon even the bad things will snap you into a better and inspired mood!. Don't let those thought control you!.!.!.you can control them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree with Neil also!. You will never feel closer when bottling something up, or trying to be busy!.
I have bad memories and they are not from something I did, or said, but what I witnessed, the memories still come back time after time, but the best thing I did was to talk about it with someone who would listen!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Do good deeds, help other people with the same situation you're in, try to look outwards not towards yourself or no self pity if possible or a pill a day of St John's Wort to maintain good mood!. Maintaining good mood sometimes can be aided with herbal suppliments, or, spiritual guidance if one has a religion to renew one's spiritual vitality!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Most people repress them, but that causes anxiety!. If your memories are causing you uneasiness, then deal with them!. Face the problem and solve it!. It may be to apologise to someone, admit to something you did etc!. Face them, solve them and move on!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sometimes I just cry and let it come out, sometimes I turn to lighter things like humour, sometimes I get angry & vent my energy in a physical way, only very seldom do I view if things could have been different because that just makes me more uncomfortable!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i consider what i learned from the experience or how it made me stronger or better or wiser or whatever!.

one must acknowledge the past for what it is and it's impact, but dwelling on it, good and bad memories is a waste of time!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
