Question: Is it disadvantageous to stick to old views and ideas!?
In other words, Isn't it better to always think outside the box!? Einstein did that & ended up with relativity- Poincoire did not do that & that is how he missed out the big fat chance to see what Einstein saw & understood;-)
What do you think!?
Thanks;-)Www@QuestionHome@Com

people are going to stick with the ideas and concepts they've been nurtured to believe; of course though, this comes back to the idea of nature vs!. nurture!. einstein had well documented learning difficulties, so perhaps this is not so much as thinking outside the box as opposed to percieving it in a different way to say, poincoire!.
some will feel comfortable to stay with tried and tested ideas and this will be what works for them; whilst others feel the need to push the envelope; and perhaps discover new things along the way!.
old ways need to continue to be used for their base examples on certain things as they have reached the maximum ability they can achieve, such as the microwave!. it has reached the point of remaining the same item, however, adding more features or even the idea of the 'internet microwave' does not remove the fact it is simply a microwave!.
however, taking old ideas and using them to your advantage to morph and change into completely new ideas is also valid; and is the basis for moving our generation into new and exciting technology!.

i feel neither way is disadvantageous if those composing the ideas are getting the results they desire!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Imo the key to the question and therefore to its answer is the verb stick!.
Imo the ability to totally accept a new view (read belief) is the key to mental growth or mind expansion!. It also happens to be the key to the growth of the universe, but that is on a different scale!. When I learned about it many years ago, it was referred to as suspending critical sensor!. It has worked well for me so I say that it has been advantageous and I am much happier now than before I allowed this idea to develop!.
Enjoy! There is nothing to be afraid of!. There is plenty of room in your head for divergent thoughts!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No it is not dis advantageous to stick to old view and ideas but sticking only to these and not willing to accept new ones is disadvantageous!. We have to link old ideas with new ones and then we will able to prosper!. So keeping in view old views and then moving towards new views but benefit otherwise we will lost in a jungle and find no way to go!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

How did one arrive at their present views!? Hopefully through investigation and observation!.!.!.not through blind acceptance of an 'authority'!.!.!.
If one arrived through investigation and observation!.!.!.wouldn't it be a negation of those very things if one simply stuck to the views they led one to with the understanding one once possessed in some past moment, when in the present, one can see more!?(Is that a bad sentence, or what!?)
The only universal constant!.!.!.is change!.
Therefore!.!.!.outside the box, by all means!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Depends on the meaning of "stick to!." It is always useful to keep yourself open to new views and ideas, while not forgetting the lessons and values of "old" views and ideas!. With context and balance, old and new are great partners!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No matter how great an idea is, if you don't build, progress, and expand on any idea, it will lead to poor results eventually!. That is why all the great moments in history (changes of epochs) are marked by great change!. Of course, great change does not always mean a change of epoch, but any society becomes stagnant otherwise!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Depends on whether you are "aiming to achieve" something or not!. If you are truly content with what you already know, obviously there's nowhere else to be looking, no disadvantage to be had!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

That is a good question!.

I think that it is generally a good idea to move beyond cliché-type things!.

No, progress is good, if one keep the morals and lessons learned from the old views and times in mind as wellWww@QuestionHome@Com

I think it's better to follow your OWN views and ideas, and dont believe what everyone else says!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think so if you know they're not perfect!. If they proved harmless then I don't see where the problem would be!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

whenever it doesn't help you !.!.!. yes!.
