Not really!. You have the freedom to do about anything in life, but society has rules against it!. If people did not care about life or death, then society would crumble, because every law in society stays in place due to a desire for self preservation!.

If not for this innate desire, if perhaps we knew 100% that the afterlife was better than life now, then laws would fall, and death would bnot be so terrible!. Self preservation would disapear!.

I would not say that we are pawns in the game of life, as that would imply that we all had some greater outside purpose!. And we have no idea if we do!. According to scientists the world will explode eventually, so things that men have lived life to gain, a place in history, will disappear!. It will no longer matter!. Perhaps we are pawns, but we do not know yet!.

That is why religion is so popular, it gives us a reason to live life within a certain set of rules, and gives us a place in the afterlife if we live right!.

In a way!.!.!. We are pawns of the media, we act like they act and do what they say!. We listen to the music they like and base our opinions on theirs!. Now, this may not have been what you meant, but it is what i think!. Very few people in this world are truly individuals and i think we are all losing ourselves and becoming a product of the media!.
