The body and mind are linked to the external world around us and they react to this world and manifest as a result of this world!. Therefore we are controlled by emotions, desires, negativity, and sensations!. We form an ego and identify ourselves as being however we are reacting to the world!. To be free from this begins with being able to separate and step back and begin to see our manifestations of mind and body as being part of the external world!. It is awareness that can do this!. This is how the soul becomes free and instead of being governed by the body and the mind, becomes the active force!. It is a long process and in Christian beliefs is synonymous with purging, severing the ties that bind the soul with the body and mind!.
