Question: Have I perfected the art of being a jerk!?
I am emotionaly uncarring about a loved one's recent illness!.
I criticize our culture's liberal values/sexual promiscuity yet engage in premarital sex!.
I despise people who ask me for help but I think there is justification since I almost never ask for help!. I get angry at co-workers who call me to work for them!. I chew them out and say that I would never call them to work for me EVEN if I was sick or lost in a ditch!.
Let me summerize that last paragraph: I hate to give because I rarely take so I feel like I don't owe anyone anything!.
However, if I was in great reliance on someone else, I would likely treat them with respect if they needed a favor!.
I also drive like a menace!. I also view people with different political viewpoints as enemies I should fight in war!. I denounce many people as unpatriotic or unAmerican!.

I'd say you hit the nail on the head with being a "jerk" (I assume you're American)
If you don't mind being that way, don't change it; if you feel comfortable with being that way, don't care what others think!. Luckily, I like to think I'm a caring person and it makes me feel good but being a "jerk" is kind of a good thing in some ways!.
