I'm going to assume you mean guilt as a feeling and not as committing an offense!.

Feeling guilty is having a sense of doing something wrong!. Remorse is deep and painful regret for wrongdoing!.

Having remorse wihtout guilt would be like feeling incredibly bad about doing something wrong- without feeling as if you have done anything wrong at all!.

I would have said, yes, yes there can be remorse in the absence of guilt!. But your question made me look up the definitions in the dictionary!.

The only difference between remorse and guilt is context!. Remorse is simply guilt made public!.

I can feel guilty for something that is not factual!. It is the feeling of guilt that leads you to a feeling of remorse (a desire to admit to ones guilt)!. No - I think there is feeling guilty and then the neutral observation that one has been guilty!. Remorse is a recognition of that guilt!. If one logically knows themselves not to be guilty there can be no remorse just a sadness about whatever happened!.

Az Grande is simply WRONG!. Guilt is factual; either you did it, or you didn't, while remorse is a feeling, though often the two are used interchangeably!. I think one might feel remorse in the absence of guilt if perhaps they could have done more to prevent something, or to make something positive happen, but didn't!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
