that reminds me of the old saying "we are all created equal,
but some are more equal than others"
back to your question; no the 'free' cannot be truly free while
they are busy keeping others bound!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Starting from defining Freedom there are two kinds of freedom depending on the relation they have two or more individuals!. The first one is Negative Freedom which means that each person has its own space that owns and by the law has the right to be protected by have it prohibeted from others!. Negative Freedom has set arguments on which theories of property were based!.
The other kind of Freedom is the Positive one!. In this case we have the social relations, the network of sociaty!. The people are socializing and they open their personal space to other people!. Theories of cooperation as a result of work procedures, trade etc are based on Positive Freedom!. Policies like Affermative Action are one of the contemporary Politics Acts that help individuals rather than respecting their individuality!. In other words, these Politics are followed by taxes and social security policies, a fact that has raised arguments about the lines between Public and Private Space!.
Last but not least, as far as spiritual aspect of Freedom is being discussed, first of all, freedom of self expression, freedom of Press, an issue that J!.S!.Mill set in his book, freedom of thinking in general is a spiritual aspect of human nature as important as the political and economic!.
When A!.Smith wrote about empathy he was right: there is not only an automatic control of equalization of market!. There is the empathy that make people free by making there spirits less egoistic by having them being in the place of other people and think what would they do if they were them!. So in this case people become more altrouistic!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm told a German concentration camp resident wrote this song, but I didn't find verification of that fact!. Still, here it is:

Die Gedanken Sind Frei (Our Thoughts Are Free)

Die Gedanken sind frei
My thoughts freely flower,
Die Gedanken sind frei
My thoughts give me power!.
No scholar can map them,
No hunter can trap them,
No man can deny:
Die Gedanken sind frei!

I think as I please
And this gives me pleasure,
My conscience decrees,
This right I must treasure;
My thoughts will not cater
To duke or dictator,
No man can deny--
Die Gedanken sind frei!

And if tyrants take me
And throw me in prison
My thoughts will burst free,
Like blossoms in season!.
Foundations will crumble,
The structure will tumble,
And free men will cry:
Die Gedanken sind frei!

Neither trouble or pain
Will ever touch me again!.
No good comes of fretting,
My hope's in forgetting!.
Within myself still
I can think as I will,
But I laugh, do not cry:
Die Gedanken sind frei!Www@QuestionHome@Com
