It's in our genes!.

Read up on Richard Dawkins on how genes and memes compete for ascendancy!.

Our genes can live for several hundreds of years swapping bodies as they pass from one generation to the next!.

Different body types and personalities compete with the weaker ones being destroyed!.

Neandertals were for instance a more humane evolutionary branch that kept to themselves in smaller groups concentrating on "cottage industries" and crafts!.

Our ancesters were more pack like, and acted like street gangs bullying others where possible rather working for themselves, and killing off any males who were not like them and raping the women of competing tribes to maximize their gene types!. Anyone who was born to the tribe who looked or acted too diferent would be killed or mistreated as a freak!.

Gor a gang to operate they also need to cooperate or behave civily within the group!. Religion and Alcohol helped aid bonding required for larger civilizations to flourish!. Religion also promoted conformity and loyalty to larger social groupings!. Today Sport replaces much of the bonding and source of identity and awe provided by religions, as well as providing safe outlet of male and tribal agression, and loyalty to tribal bonds!. E!.g!. Competing Countries or areas find team loyalty by supporting their local team over outside groups!.

Racism is one form of the urge to support peole with genes like yours and persecute those who are different!. Other types of persecution have advantages in Game Theory situations!.

E!.g!. men who bash their wives will support others who do likewise, or follow up on threats to murder suicide, despit such actions not helping them individually!. These actions however suport wife bashing in general and if all wife bashers do this wife bashing in general is supported!.

In order for humans to thrive we have had to have the capacity for morallly good and evil behavior!. If societies ever become civilized to the extent that persecution of others does not give advantage we may loose our capacity for evil, increasing the risk of evil intergalactic aliens wiping us out like sheep!.

History shows there may be that there is a progression to towards higher morality and civil behavior, but our capacities for evil may have also increased!.

It would be interesting to know which is required most for greatest advancement!. the answer to this question may be vital in determining whether galactic civilization we may eventually meet will be civil to us or simply wipe us out as competition!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I really don't know!.!.!. I guess if you just grow up living one way and learning one thing, then it's harder to accept other people's ways, especially if they are radically different from yours!.
I don't agree with prejudice, racism, etc!. but sometimes when people grow up with that type of influence it becomes a part of you!. But people need to learn to break away and see with their own eyes and think with their own minds and see that cultural differences are a fact of life, and in fact make life more interesting!.

For the same reason that religions can't accept one another; they feel superior because they have the one true God and a direct pipeline to Him, and everyone else is going to Hell!.
(this is a basic to most religions, although most religions are supposed to practice tolerance, they don't, because it spoils all of their fun!)Www@QuestionHome@Com

You know I've asked myself the same question several times in the past!.!.!. anyways, I think when ever you grow up in a society, culture, environment, country with the same people for the majority of your life you get accustomed to their appearance, beliefs and you think of that as something normal, and so when you see these people in a situation where theres diversity such as different races, cultures these people immediately feel strange and will judge!.!.!.

No reasoning, no empathy, no integrity, but this is the surroundings these people grew up in!. The worst part is when you offer your opinion they think your absolutely absurd, and while they may preach what is good and ethical, they are all talk!.!.!.

I was born in Italy and have lived in France, Germany and the United states, so I know some about different cultures!. Some people would not want to copy me!. I suppose there is xenophobia among many people with limited viewpoints!. Many people seem to be brainwashed with the idea that their ways are the only acceptable ones!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
