It would seem that many of the answerers do not understand the emotional passion inherent within the particular perspective of your question!.

We all are searching for something, whether we know it or not!. For many, it is a willingness to serve and satisfy the desires of another!. Therefore, it is a matter of finding the right Person!.

Consequently, Respect is involved!. So is joy, and maybe even fear, occasionally (see below)!. But mainly for he or she who chooses to obey…it is the desire to please which leads to joy when the dominant person is satisfied!.

Someone with a submissive nature will fear that they may’ve displeased the ONE by being disobedient!. In order to get back in good ‘stead, they will gladly take whatever punishment is deemed necessary!.

For submissive souls, obedience is the pathway for their life’s journey!. They obey because they dare not stray from the dominant’s side!. It is there where they’ve found a source for the need to serve and obey!. This is why one person obeys another!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Great question!.

The word Obey tends to bring with it the connotation of 'forced' compliance!. To me, that discounts B) and D)!.

To me, respect and joy lead someone to work 'with' someone else, not 'for' them!. That would be more cooperation than obedience!.

I think that Fear is a major one!. Look at many of the SS soldiers and Gestapo of Hitler's 3rd Reich!. While many of them bought into the anti-Semitic views of Hitler, a large portion also served because their families would be tortured or killed if they didn't!.

On the same hand, a desire to please someone you admire or fear would also have similar motivation behind it!.

That ended up sounding a lot more negative than I intended, but after reviewing I still think it's true!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

All of the above except c)!. Desire to please does not deserve its own category because it can fall under any of the other three!. You can desire to please out of fear, to show respect, and to create your own happiness by making another happy!.

I would also add that we obey for the greater good or cause!. We follow orders so that we as a group can succeed!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
