yes, it's called automatic dictation and it's a process which fascinated the Surrealists!.!.!. think of those contorted landscapes in Dali's paintings, that's where they are supposed to come from!. They used to think that the moment before you fall asleep is an edge, a frontier between two worlds!.!.!. a concept which was in fact discovered by Romanticism but taken further in Surrealism!. they used to keep notebooks on their pillow to write down what popped up into their minds in those precious moments which precede sleep!.

and yes, I have those types of moments myself and I get really frustrated the next day when I can't even approximate what I was thinking during the night!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree with the second post, not only do you sometimes get ideas before falling asleep but sometimes before waking up during lucid dreaming!. Very often before waking up i am able to lucid dream, i become aware that i am sleeping and then i am able to control my dreams!. This puts me in a stage with an extremely vivid imagination, but at the same time i become more aware of my surroundings and waking up is extremely easy!. I'm an artist and I use to experiment a lot in order to come up with ideas just as the second post explained!. The spanish surrealist Dali had an technique which he called "slumber with a key" where you would hold a heavy key on the tip of your fingers!. When you would fall asleep the key would fall and break a plate which would be place on the floor!. This would instantly wake you up producing a state of automatism which he later called the paranoiac critical method!. Fascinating stuff, the brain is a very complex machine!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

My best ideas come after I've smoked a spliff, so I purposely keep a journal nearby!. When the good ideas come flooding, I write them as quickly and accurately as possible, then when I awake in the morning, Yes I've forgotten them, but I refer to my handy journal!.
Sometimes they're brilliant, others are so stupid I have to laugh!.
Seriously, keep a journal or small notebook with you because some of those ideas are priceless and very much worth the effort of sitting up in bed for a minute to scribble it down!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ya, they do!. It's because when I relax I can think better, so if I'm struggling with some idea and go to bed and start to fall asleep and I'm still bugged, I'm able to get clearer answers, then I have to get it and write them down, which gets annoying when I go back to bed and then have to get up again!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
