We do not have a choice about having a code of values!. Look at Descartes, the epitome of rationalism, at least in the history of philosphy!. He's been rendered essentially obsolete!. And yet we still hold on to his conclusions, creating fictions such as the body / mind dichotomy!. It's possible to live by reasoning!. It's not possible to hope to succeed in developing useful information and knowledge by reason alone!. What is more, there are real limits to what can be known!.
