What you're implying, is that the human spirit only ages when it gives up on augmenting itself!? That the mind will begin to wither as its owner's zest for knowledge withers!?

Look at ancient cultures, the most knowledgeable were the elder members of tribes and civilisations, growing old is just the physical, growth can never truly be ceased, as humans no matter what abject adversities we are forced through we will always retain the curiosity, the spark that differs us from the non-sentient!.

Even the repetition of old things leads to the growth of new, a man who plays a guitar and then masters it grows, but the growth then dwindles, unless he continues its use!. Only by the abandoning of everything can we stop growing spiritually and mentally, for everything we know can be forgotten in an instant, we must strive for constant growth to combat the constant decay!.

Growth is not change, growth is survival, it is life and it is humanity!.

When does the human spirit cease to grow!?

Only when there is no hope, where there is nothing left for the spirit: emptiness!. No pain, no hardship, for growth occurs in all humours, joy build us and we build ourselves through sorrow!. Enuui and apathy are the destroyers of the spirit, empty, hollow words and lives are those without growth!.

When does the human mind cease to grow!?

When what there is to be learned is exhausted, a person can spend their entire life devoted to the tiniest form, and be more knowledgeable about that than any being on this planet, but there are billions of things to be known!. Science, mathematics, religion, language, music, art, countless things to learn, incocievable to be learnt by a single entity!.
How many books have been written, how many sentences unspoken in dark corners of rotten pages, how many words have been conjured throughout history, on this tiny speck in the vast emptiness of space!?

When does humanity cease to grow!?

When there is nothing left for man, when this world is black and charred, when words turn to ash in our mouths, when thoughts are grey and unchanging, when time itself begins to slow and ebb!. Life eddying into a soulless mindless inhumanity!.

When a human ceases to grow, they can no longer grow old, for without even an iota of curiosity within their mortal coils, no wants nor desires, how are they human!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Trying to be better, wiser and always with interest in living, keeps us young at heart, young at soul and at good organic health!. Losing interest to grow as if we have reached our peak and there is nothing else we need to know, stops maturity!. This is the time we start growing old!. Stopping our spiritual and mental maturity, makes us old!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Being 58, I know exactly what you are talking about!. I've seen too many peers retire, lose interest in life because they left their careers, are too rigid to learn new things or a new perspective, and grow 10 years older in health and looks within 2 years of retirement!.

The saying goes along with the idea that once you stop "growing" mentally or spiritually meaning you no longer search for knowledge, you stop "growing" as a person and the soul begins to wither away!.
