Question: What "colour" do blind people see!?
Do they dream in colour!? Or dream in sounds and smells!? If they see black, grey or white, then isint this something!? This question sort of relates to this philosophical querry that a philosopher developed, which illustrated that a person who is forced to live a colour free life (but knows all about colour) is finally, later in life, shown colour!. And even though this person may know the scienice of, lets say, "blue" they wont experience blue untill they see it for the first time!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'd imagine that a blind person who had been blind their whole life would experience nothing but black, and that it would be incredibly hard or even impossible for them to imagine, dream, or think about any color!.

Someone who was blinded in life would definitely have a memory of color, however, and would probably imagine, dream, and think about every color and every experience they ever lived through!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I've often wondered about this too!. I suppose it depends on the nature of their blindness!.

I imagine if a person has damaged eyes, but a fully functional brain, then it is reasonable to assume that this person sees a variety of colours by the random firing of neurons in his visual cortex!.

If his visual cortex itself is damaged, however, he probably doesn't see any colour at all!. He would 'see' pitch black!.

This question should have appeared in science rather than philosophy!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Assuming it was a person that was blind their entire life, I would say no, they don't dream in color!. I'm no brain surgeon or scientist or anything like that, but I'm assuming when we dream we make up irrational and rational events based upon experience on the actual world!. If there isn't an experience to be based upon, then that experience can't happen in a dream!.

So my best bet would be to say they do dream in sounds and smells because those are the only things they have experienced!.!.!.well that and every other sense that's not sight!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

they don't see, but they can imagine and dreams are in their imagination, Therefore, they dream like we do!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
