Like that monk guy said, we can neither borrow from the past or entertain the future, there is only here and now!. And each time to either borrow from the past or entertain the future, its like leaving yourself behind!.

But what about individualism!? In social situations many people give up the idea of self and let the alpha male or female of the social clique make decisions and trend for others!.
I feel that whenever one releases one's own responsibilities!.!.
The potential that is not being fully used to extent!.!.
That is straying from self, which is in a way, leaving yourself behind!.
