It doesn`t make sense!. The same word is being used for two meanings!. If I take the sentence in one context, which I think is the one you are implying (benefiting more from the output than the one who laboured to produce it) fruit both defines labour and the reaping of that labour while being totally different actions!. If you take it another way; IF the sweetest fruit IS the fruit of the labour of others we should aspire to be like the others so we too can produce the sweetest fruit!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It reminds me of a verse from Solidarity Forever, an old IWW song, sung to the tune of the Battle Hymn of the Republic!.

"They have stolen untold millions that they never toiled to earn/
But without our minds and muscles not a single wheel will turn/
We can curb their haughty po'er, earn our freedom if we learn:
The union makes us strong!.

"Solidarity forever!.Solidarity forever!. Solidarity forever!.

"The union makes us strong!."Www@QuestionHome@Com

in all the answers above, "atomic" is right!. Here 'FRUITS' is used as symbol and all the sweetest fruits one gets by labor!. Please include all the sweetest fruits found in forests or in jungles, where none executed any labor at all, yet those were done by the labor of the SUN, The WIND, the RAIN, the SOIL, the BIRDS & INSECTS (for pollination)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

This saying is sarcastically aimed to magnify the actions of those who parasites on the hard work of others to benefit themselves!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

mm doesnt make much sense to me!. What do the "fruits" stand for!? If we are the fruits then we are sweet!.!.!.so wouldnt it mean that when we help people thats the sweetest thing we can do!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

i don't really agree!.!.!.!.i think the sweetest fruits are the fruits of the labour of ourselves!.!.!.!.you know, stuff always tastes better when you worked hard to make itWww@QuestionHome@Com
