I think it's an acquired trait!. First everyone's parents have so much to do w/ what and how they think--so if they are or they arent affects your pessimism greatly!. also some people just have some crappy luck and aren't given the same things in life that most people get!. So i would say this affects pessimism greatly as well!. I don't think a trait like pessimism is given by nature, though!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think it's learned!. I think people who were overly criticized as children grow up to be pessimists!. They were trained to always find fault and look at the negative, perhaps with the idea that if one focuses on problems then they will go away or be solved!. And there's some truth to this!. But there's always such a thing as too much!. And most pessimists just complain about that which is painful or imperfect rather than doing anything about it!.
Perhaps it's a sign of immaturity or arrested development, they haven't given up on the idea that their world can be perfect, that they can go back and change their childhood!. But I think it's also a result of feeling immobilised rather than empowered, which is also a result of a bad parental training!. When a person feels powerless to do anything to change his or her situation then they tend to point fingers and blame!. When they feel empowered then they really don't care who's fault it is and focus on how to improve things!.
And then thirdly it may be acting out childhood relationships with parents!. In my experience, pessimism usually comes along with some perceived authority figure as the guilty party(god, society, the government, the church, big corporations etc) responsible for the persons pain!. The perception of being wronged by an authority figure, which was reality in their childhood, is projected onto entities in their adult world!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's an acquired trait, sadly!. :S But hey, if you're pessimistic, it's harder for things to disappoint you if you're expecting them!. *lol*Www@QuestionHome@Com

some people r pessimist by nature but i believe most r forced to become one by this cruel world or situations in life!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i think it becomes a comfort zone, i think people do things and hurt, which ultimately causes pessimism!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
