Question: A la "The Skeleton Key", would you ever steal someone else's remaining years to add to your own!?
Suppose you had the ability to steal someone else's remaining years so that you could extend your own life, like the scenario played out in the movie, "The Skeleton Key"!. Would you do it!? Before automatically saying "no", stop & think for a moment that you wouldn't have to use any innocent person's years - you could steal the remaining years from the most evile, vile & contemptuous person if you preferred to do so!. By stealing their years and using them for good, you could spare the world a great deal of pain & suffering!. Thought about in those terms, is the thought appealing to you!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Actually this is just the nature of life!.

For every meal you've had, something had to die!.

The act of protecting your countries farms is denying this resource to others!.

Morality is agreeing NOT to cheat your countrymen out of life!.

But a murderer or thief has no sense of morality towards me, so I consider it foolish to have any towards them!. I consider it noble to kill enemies in general, much less for extended life!.

Ultimately though the point is a bit moot, because one cannot live without taking life from something else!. It is simply denial to believe otherwise!.

The most extreme pacifist eats from the table secured by patriotic killers!. The moral commitment to non-violence is meaningless at best, and cowardice at worst!.

We suckle from the lioness' teat, what hypocrisy to condemn her violence!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Stealing life from even a crook is wrong!. If you do, you will be no better than he is and someone else will come and suck the remaining life out of you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No is my answer!.

Who are we to chose who deserve it or not!.!.!.to judge!.

And who are we to have these powers!? Power in the hands of one man tends to corrupt!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Who's to say what and "evil" person is!? No matter who's life you would steel, you would always cause at least one person agony!. Take for example Hitler, he was (in my mind) a horrible, HORRIBLE person, yet he had hundreds of thousands of followers who completely agreed with his views!. Even if I took from him his remaining years, i would cause his followers great pain!. So for me, I would say no, I wouldn't take the life of another in this situation!. My judgment is no better then anyone else'!. Don't be so keen to take others lives, also you may say that you are doing it for good, but power like that in any hands is not a good thing!. Sorry this was a quick answer, if you have any questions, feel free to ask!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The ethical or moral lesson is that of stealing -- taking that which does not belong to you!.

If you advocate for stealing from another, aren't you then allowing that someone else might steal from you!.

Despite your intention to do good, the stealing of the years of another may have a negative effect on those close to the person!. So the moral lesson widens to include that it them becomes acceptable to hurt others!.

Of course, you don't know the future of the "evil" person who may make a signicant contribution to one or more people at some point in the future, or even make restitution for their prior bad acts!.

Unless you are an atheist, you may be violating some religious codes as well!. Taking the years of another could be constructed as killing or murder!. And the moral issues become even larger!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't desire to live longer than my natural life, whatever that may be!. If I were faced with the choice, at a young age, I would probably do so!. If my parents were still alive I would want to spare them!. If I were faced with this choice after they passed, then no I would not!.

I believe in quality of life, not length of life!. My parents would suffer, so I would spare them!. I would look for a person who has harmed others and affected their quality of life; a person with no family!.

I'm unsure of whether or not I would do this if I had a spouse and/or children, but I would want to spare my parents!. Like it or not, that's my answer!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
