Ah, the nature of belief! So many people get belief and knowledge confused!. They think they know something (like "god exists") when in fact they only believe it!. A belief, at its core, is an emotion--a desire for something to be true, either despite a lack of supporting evidence, or in spite of evidence against it!. When a person confuses their belief with knowledge, they are letting their emotion (again, the _desire_ for something to be true) override their reason!. This has the effect of immunizing the belief from unbiased self-analysis!.

As a naturalistic atheist, my set of unprovable beliefs are quite a bit more limited than most peoples'!. But I'm also an optimist, and while I can't _prove_ that optimism is more realistic than pessimism, my personal experiences have led me to prefer it over pessimism!. I believe that humanity is gradually (over the centuries) growing more mature as a species, more civilized, more advanced, and less violent!. I believe that the future, at least long-term, will be on average better than the present, possibly much better!. And I believe that most people are inherently good!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

people always say when they are watching a show they always say oh that would never happen in real life! and its true that real life is nothing like the stuff on tv becuz everyday on tv something exiting is happening!. so i believe that television is just a bunch of peoples lives with the boring parts cut out and all of them smashed 2gether!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I believe in the possibility of the presence of god but there is no way for a person to know that there is or there isn't a god!. By definition, that is an agnostic, so I guess I am a person that leans in that direction!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
