Sure, as human beings we are not perfect, and sometimes we express beliefs in something which proves to be untrue!.
That is just being human, and not something you should beat yourself up over!.
As far as the other's reaction to this, they should look in the mirror and realize they are also flawed and human!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Believe, is without proof, without anything physical!. Believe is just that, a believe!. The moment it gets proved, flawed or real, it has become a fact of!.!.!.!. live (whatever!) and is no longer 'believe'!. So, believe stops the moment there is knowledge!.
