To be honest, I do go into "automatic mode" and remain calm and oriented!.
As a former counselor, I was trained to maintain my equilibrium even when confronted with horrendous chaos!.
So i have to answer yes!. I am naturally a good person to be around in and emergency, as I don't panic and I stay calm, and go into survival mode!.
That's just part of my training!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you mean, I feel comforted and validated to see other people struggle/suffer then sadly, yes!.!.!.

I find it only comforting to know that other people have to deal with issues, it changes your own perspective and makes your own life seem less crappy!.

On the other hand, when you suffer and others succeed, it just makes me want to see them fall flat on their face all the more!.!.!.

Or, do you mean do I have the ability to strive where others struggle, I do have this, and once again it is comforting!.
To know that a person is not perfect and needs help, and you aren't useless!.
("Tall-poppy Syndrome", perhaps, but I never admit the fact of them needing help, so I don't rub it their face!.
I keep it to myself, so i'm basically a humble narcissist, I like to think i'm the best, everybody need my help; etc!.!.!. I just don't flash it off!.)Www@QuestionHome@Com

You strive on other peoples demise!? How can you even think it!!. It is even more outrageous than falling pregnant from an empty beer can!. Equilibrium (balance) is not the other pole to chaos (without order)! It would be imbalance, and ordered!.
