Question: Is it possible TO BE IN LOVE WITH the intellect of a friend!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
OH, yes yes yes! It happened to me several times!. If you accept me, for example's sake, as a person with enough intellects, then you certainly know that I've that taste, that sense & that choice to find out my friend!? But once I fell in love with the 'INTELLECTS' of a guy who was not all suitable to be my friend!. But we became friends! On the other side, hundreds of my fans, ultimately fell in love with me! Whereas they're (70%) 30 years junior to me! At a moment, while sitting alone, I started thinking why these 22 to 26 years girls had fallen in love with this old guy like me!? I discovered that it was my knowledge perhaps (or 'intellects' as you said) they fell in love with! Sometimes (25% of them) even proposed me! That was the most embarrassing moment for me!. Because I also did love them!. I was sure, they were NOT in love with person like me, THEN!? So tactfully, I remain free from them without breaking their heart!. I told them the seriousness of Platonic Love! They understood & we were/are fine! So, it's possible what you asked!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Your Question hints on a "strong admiration" for another!.
It also hints on a somewhat "cover-up" by you to ask the possibility of "to be in love with" Intellect!.!.when THAT Intellect is a Person!.
You say its an admiration (my wording)
Your wording "to be in love with"!.!.Intellect!.

The Intellect is the person!.
I suspect you already KNOW my underlying Answer!.
You havnt said the gender either of the intellect!.!.nor yours!.
NOT that THAT matters so much!.!.
IF its a feasible relationship,
and no one gets hurt!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Decades ago, before Freud, people understood that love could be "platonic" (i!.e!. spiritual and intellectual), as well as erotic!. People saw nothing wrong with two men who lived together and admired each other -- like say, Sherlock Holmes and Dr!. Watson, or Samuel Johnson and Boswell, the Three Musketeers, etc!. Today, since Freud, we live in a sex-obsessed culture!. We attribute a sexual motive to every relationship, and if a man admires another man, it must be "latent homosexuality!." That's just ridiculous!. History is full of examples of platonic love!. So the answer is "Certainly, you can love a person's mind and heart without making something erotic out of it!." Don't be persuaded otherwise!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Perhaps "admiration" would be more appropriate, as well as enjoyment of that attribute you see in the other while remembering that said person is "another self" (as Aristotle would have and did say) which reflects that of your "self"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

yes!. The man I am with and I are so different that no one would have thought of us as a couple!. He values my ideas too!. He has helped me to see life in a positive way and I am grateful!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i think it is more jealousy that you want that intellect of a friend, unless you love the friend for their intellect!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

yes, that sounds like all my friendships and love relationships!. I can't imagine there can be something more intense and attracting than someone's intelligence and understandingWww@QuestionHome@Com
