Question: How do you know who you are today is who you were yesterday!?
Let's pretend for a moment that there is an area of your brain that is responsible for your conscious being!. I guess you could say it is your soul!. How do you know that your "soul" was not switched with that of another yesterday (for simplicity's sake), and now you have all of the memories of the person, and are thus convinced that you are that person!.

Therefore, isn't our existence really embedded in our memories!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Are you sure that you didn't write this response!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

What do you mean our existence is embedded in our memories!? Are you saying that a person, say with Alzheimer's disease, who may lose most of their memories if not all the poignant ones, no longer exists!? What about babies!. Do they have memories!? If not, then it doesn't that the exist; since, "existence is embedded in our memories", but how could there be existence without memories!? But, memories fade out, and if you make us logically identical to that memories, then it is logically possible for us to fade out!. But, what's true of the parts of the whole is not necessarily true of the whole itself so that if it were true that memories had the potential to fade out it doesn't necessarily follow that what the memories compose, the whole, the soul, could do the same!. Obviously, we wouldn't say because the parts of a team are bad (the players) that it necessarily follows that the whole has the same nature (the team)!.

Secondly, I know exactly the opposite!. I cannot be identical to that of the person I was yesterday; for matter is constantly changing, and my body is made of matter!. I've at least grown older and fatter than I was yesterday!. Now, if one thing about me is no longer like that of who I was yesterday, then it follows I cannot be identical to that person!. Thus, I know that I am not identical to the person I was yesterday!. Further, wouldn't I need to change in order to have varying memories!? Since If I never changed I would always know myself to be who I've always been and I could have no memories of what I once was!. So, it's not a matter of whether I am different or not; I have to be different, or I have no memories of myself being someone I once was!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you were not of matter then what sense would you have to remember!?
Where would your memories come from if you had no brain!.
The mind is active but the brain is conduit for this activity!.
The area of your brain that is the monologue of your inner voice is the left hemisphere, this is also where most rational cognitive activity happens!.
I posted a vid by a Neuroanatomist that explains some things about how the brain works!.
No for the sake of being technically correct we can not say that we are the same person as we were yesterday as a significant amount of our memory and matter is no longer at our disposal!.
The idea of self is very vague even to the individual that is contemplating!.
Our existence is our matter, our being or awareness is a process ontological abstraction!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

that would be kinda cool, but on the other hand rather confusing because the memory switch would have to take into account your physical self as well otherwise others would not recognize you!. Therefore I guess you would know when you started introducing yourself and no body recognized you!. So in that sense I think it would only be true minus the physical self therefor e impossible in this existence!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

My soul is like any other soul is what you are trying to say!. Now all your memorys exist in your corpes!. Now when you go into another corpes your soul will adjust to new perceptions and outlook and you will only know that as reality!. God wouldn't let that happen!. We have to continue our journey in this world to the end!. Some people are going to hell and you are a good soul put into a bad body!. That bad body is putting curses on a good soul!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

How do you know, the person you are today is who you will be tomorrow!? Every day a person lives changes their lives one way or another!.Embrace the change, you have no other choice!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes
If you become sick, you could lose your memory for a short period of time, sometimes permanent!.
Alzheimer's slowly loose their memories!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Our existence is embedded in the memories of those around us!. We exist because of them!. They know of us, therefore we are!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

omg i hav thought of that so many times in my life
i try not to think about it any more because
it hurts that i dont hav the answerWww@QuestionHome@Com

George berkeley believed that only ideas truly existed, so maybe our existence is embedded in our memories!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

y do u want to make life even more complicated!?!?!?everything is embedded in our memories!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think therefore I am!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

What an intelligent view!.I believe yes,Who we are is only in our past!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Oh, very intiuging question you've come up with! I love questions that really make me think!. So, I would supose that what you're saying is really quite possible, say perhaps that our subconisious is containg an " alter-ego" sort of speak, that slubers while the other sits up front, the consious level of you're present being!. then maybe with a tweak or a set off sort of thing like a timer, such as how long or while we sleep sort of what you suggested, we change!. So like you said, we would have to live off of the memories that we take in through out the day to sort of *supply* our other being for when we bring it,(our would it be us!?), out of it's slumber!. And really would you know if you had been switched!? Is that the form of deja vu or something in the works!? But if you do indeed change from who or what laid awake in you're consious level, would that not mean that every person around you changes exactly when you do, and that the interchanging *souls* or what not, would have to know each other in a way!? Or would they meet as strangers everyday, though only realizing what or how to react to another by you're vivd memories!? I'm afraid that I've gone off and rabbled again, forgive me! ; ) But I am also unaware if i even answered you're question, or if you bothered to even read this LONG thing!. If you did I thank you for even going through let alone taking any of it in!
