we are using and abusing our resources in about the same way as the Victorians di however there are now 10 times as many people on the earth as in the 1880's to the earth ability to absorb these changes has been exceed - hence climate change!.

Many nations and people refusal to accept global warming is a FACT (as its inconvenient to their lifestyle) means that we are driving fast into a wall!.

the increasing price of food is a sign that we are over-populated and food is becoming scare but richer nations ignore this and complain about the price!

the increasing price of oil shows that we are fast using a limited resource (11 years reserves left only) and yet rather than save this useful product we are burning it faster!.

the world is deteriorating as people only care about their own lives and not of those of other citizens of the world or even what we will leave for our children - if they survive the mess we are heading into!.

the world and life will continue despite our efforts - what will not survive is the human race!

we need a world where responsibility is looked as a virtue rather than ostentatious over consumption as now and perhaps we might come out of this!

Happiness is not derived form acquiring things we do not need to show off to others, happiness is derived from being content with your own values and IGNORING the social or fashion pressures of others!.

we live a simple life as economical as we can wasting as little as possible and living for our own needs and desires and ignoring all other pressure and we are happy as we do NOT try and follow others!.

Follow your own hearts desires and ignore social pressures and live with as much as necessary around you but keeping it as little as possible and you will find happiness!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I am happy!. But that's not relevant!. Many people, I bet, were unhappy during the Pax Romana, while many were happy during Word War 2!.

And I enjoin you to review world history!. I believe you would not see any general, holistic trend of decadence in it!. True, some decades the world gets worse, but there are times where it gets better, such as when women earned the right to vote, or when vaccines were invented, or when apartheid and slavery were abolished, or now that nations work together to build the ISS!. I hope nations would also act united against global warming - it would also show that we have gone to a greater level of maturity as a species!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The world is deteriorating because that's what the Bible prophesied!. We're heading towards the time of the anti-christ!. I agree, it is of our own doing!.

"You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times!. 2 For people will love only themselves and their money!. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful!. They will consider nothing sacred!. 3 They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control!. They will be cruel and hate what is good!. 4 They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God!. 5 They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly!."Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think people have far less moral standards than they had before!. There is far more crime now than even 20 yrs ago!. I think that people are far more secluded now than they used to be and this allows people to hide criminal activity more and I think it makes them far more selfish!. I think it is very sad!. I am a mother of 3 young kids and there are times I wish that they didn't have to live in a world where people don't have any respect or concern for others!. I would definitely say that things are deteriorating!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well nothing is allowed to happen without God's consent, and yes He allows us free will, and we will freely screw up the planet to the point of self extermination!. Unless God intervenes, which I believe He will once we have come just seconds to the point of no return!.
Yes the world is deteriorating, and the more technologies we have it seems the more we deteriorate! That is my personal opinion, but there are many who would agree with me and add to that as well!. There are some who would agree with me and detract a bit of it, then there are those who disagree entirely!. Never the less, the world is deteriorating and we are the reason for it!.
Like it or lump it we are the makers of ourselves and our world!. What a lovely place we've made for ourselves eh!?
Yes it is very possible to be happy!. If we are the makers of ourselves as a race then it stands to reason that "They themselves are the makers of themselves", and this proverb is applied to every individual no matter the circumstances in their lives!.
Myself; I am happy, I am happy with a sweet bread in the mouth, one that turns bitter in the stomach because I know that God is still in control of the universe and in the end the good guys win!. But the happiness is tempered with empathy for the ones who will not see what is in front of their eyes because they can have so much and refuse everything for scruples and a bowl of vegetable stew! That's the bitter part!. Those who will not see are going to be hurt and some of them are the ones I love dearly!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

yes and no!. I get quite depressed when i look at the decline of social standards, living stadards, the state of the planet etc, BUT i'd still rather live now than in the 50's or any other time, for that matter!.!. so it's progressing as well, which I think balances it out a lot, we just dont often think too much about the positive aspects

and hey sonfia81, that's like saying that in the summer it will be warm!. Humans have always be like that!. Everyone except the extremely devoutWww@QuestionHome@Com

I think we are worrying too much about where the world in terms of society and the environment is going! Think about the beginning of time! and the creation of the universe! things have always been created and destroyed, to make way for something better! Why worry! anyway none of us will be around! would you say a bushman living in the Kalahari desert has never known happiness!? Isolate all the goodness from the bad and focus on that, then you will have happiness!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

hey ed!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!. well "the" world might not necessarily be in deterioration!.!. it could maybe be beginning a cycle of replenishment!.!.!.!.!.!. what with the strange meteorological occurrences the world over!.!.!.!.!.!. but from observance "our" world might be!.!.!.!. never before have we been in a position as to change what we term our world!.!.!.!. our influence on the planet, the physical, world seems to be upsetting the balance of the natural order of our environment!.!.!.!.!. i'd say its a split decision on the agreement of the issue!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!. and finally if human happiness was dependant on this there wouldn't be many smiley faces out there!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!. yes!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

For some definitions of deteriorating it is, for others it isn't!.
For example there is no technological deterioration going on in today's world, but biological diversity is deteriorating!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

the world is fine it is society that is deterioratingWww@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, at different rates!. Look at ancient Rome; it reached its peak as an empire, then collapsed in on itself!. The same goes for every nation, the only question is: who's next!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

What do you use as a standard of comparison!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

When we are best by an overwhelming sense of things falling apart we need to realise we our vision of growth somewhere in the perspective too to enable us to see or to sensitise to have our feelings of decay and deterioration in our world!. Then the mind that can sense deterioration must have had a sense of formation somewhere!. In the world deteriorating is an important question for the ones who ask as this signifies their generic view of the world!.

But this can also be the way one feel internally, and the feelings can be fully subjective, instead of being a consequence of some comparison of the real against the ideal in the mind!. When I feel this way I realise that feeling go away after sometime, often when I find engage myself in some positive activity, or feel good about life!. But if such feelings persist then may be it is the time to pay some attention to them directly and review the situation of a world more collectively and objectively!.

In the modern day and age it is not uncommon for us to see things that happen at a global scale affecting our daily life!. The simplest example is intrusive intermission of the world media into our very private and local living spaces!. We know what is happening in the world; our mind is but a hapless spectator of the events that are changing and reshaping our world the world over!. It is common in the mind to think about possibilities cataclysmic to our world, to realise that human race is threading towards its extinction, the entire planet is going to turn into a desert full of hungry people, the population time-bomb is exploding in slow motion that is faster than ever, or someday there will be end of civilisation!.

But the fact is that people has always thought along more or less similar lines!. The end of the world we have always made part of regular concerns, but the difference between now and then is that now we are better equipped to know, to convince ourselves, to perhaps needlessly frequently inform ourselves!.

This is our collective mind that I think is deteriorating in the wake of our modern technological advancements!. The problem is that we have learnt to identify the best in our mind materialistically and scientifically, and the aspects of the mind that are beyond the processes of decay and deterioration of a physical world have gone out of sight into obscurity!. Where the fact is that mind is much more than merely being a tool for understanding, manipulating and exploiting the physical world, the mind is also about dreaming of a better world!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
