A lamb jumps around more than a sheep, a puppy is more playful than a dog, a kitten is also more playful than the cat!.!.!.so when our children are very acitve, playing, jumping, running around and we run to the doctor to diagnose them, aren't we medicating them for a non -real disease!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: i think so!. i just recently attended a training where we were given a handout about ADD and ADHD and one of the statistics showed that children who were exposed to a "green" setting (meaning nature) showed fewer symptoms of ADD/ADHD!. doesn't this just go to show that children really just need more time outside away from the tv and computer !? i find it absolutely heartbreaking that children as young as 2 and 3 are being diagnosed as ADD/ADHD or ODD or whatever else!. you are right -- learn to handle your kids, play with them, stimulate their minds, keep them active, and use medication only as a LAST resort!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Some children really need the medication!. I grew up in a good home with loving parents that tried everything to help me!. At 8 years old I was severely depressed!. What would you do if your child told you they wanted to die!? I was also diagnosed with ADHD!. For me school was hell!. I wasn't learning because I couldn't focus!. My brain in a sense was turned off!. It was like walking around in a cloud!. I would get in trouble on a daily basis!. When I would get in trouble I would get mad!. When I got mad a got violent!. I couldn't stop and reason or rationalize my behavior!. Within weeks of taking medication I was able to play but also focus when I needed to!. The medication filled the gap of the chemicals that were missing!. The medication allowed me to stop and think!. Looking back as an adult I'm so thankful my parents got me the help I needed!.Www@QuestionHome@Com proabaly, i was never on ANY meds as a kid and I am the only one who doesnt have severe anxiety issues and learning disorders of all the kids in my fam!.!.!.who all took Ritalin for years!.---They never had issues with this before, so i think it was the years of drugging them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Children are over-medicated and over-diagnosed!.
