Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
I believe in infatuation at first site!. One can be completely smitten, and carried away with the possibilities this new "love" might bring to us!. However, more meaningful and deeper love takes time to develop!. If it lasts beyond the IDEA of being in love, then it has a chance!. That second stage is less about the lust and the infatuation, and more about getting along and making a life!. Love moves from being a noun that you "found" to a verb that you do every day of your life!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't believe in "love at first sight"!. Love is a deep feeling that has to be developed over time!. There must be time for bonding, for sharing!. You can be in love with an idea so that when you see someone who fits this idea you feel like it is love instantly!.
A simple test for love or lust for me is someone you lust after is replaceable someone you love is not!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, there's no such thing as love at first sight!. Americans have a ridicules definition of love!. They seem to believe that "love" is that funny feeling when you see someone of the opposite sex who excites your attention!. Love is not that at all!. Real love is a decision!. It takes time to develop, because it's based on knowing who the other person is!. Real love is what you feel about another person when you know who they are, and like, respect, and enjoy them because of what you see in their soul!. It has nothing to do with sexiness, or any other outward attribution!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

From personal experience, usually disasterous!, seldom really love, usually really lust!.

Love does not end, even when the two can no longer be together!.
Love grows and develops!.
Loves seeks the best for the one who is loved even at the expense of the other!.
Love is mutual!.

Lust in the passion that burns hot and then cools with the ashes of the aftermath!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Love at first sight implies that seeing precedes the love that begins to exist!.
But, I cannot control what there is to see or what will come into my perceptive range!.
So, such a statement seems to suggest that we do not have control over whom we "fall in love" with!.
More precisely, I mean that person "x" walks into my perceptual field without having been acquainted with this person any time before this!. Upon seeing them, I fall in love based upon my sight making contact with them!. But, I cannot control who will walk into my perceptual field, thus I cannot control who I "fall in love" with!. That is, I'm not free to choose not to "fall in love" with person "x"!. This, then, will be a logical consequence of such a belief!.
Another consequence may be that if such a statement is true, then we will probably be in love with many people, since we see many people!. Faithfulness with therefore be a difficult acheievement between two people!.
We would then need to undertake whether love is (1) of the will, i!.e!. an action we perform; and, (2) that the will is free!. Upon showing that these two conditions are true I think we will have sufficient reason to believe that "love at first sight" is dubious!. But, Yahoo!.Answers! is not the place to undertake such a inquisition because the forum does not allow for effective response between people, and response between people is necessary for a philosophic discussion!. Hopefully you know some people you can talk to where response is much more possible than on Yahoo!Answers!. At least I left you with some ideas the belief will lead to!.

The distinction between love and lust will come be understanding their ends, i!.e!. what they aim at achieving!. Lust seems to aim at personal satisfaction while love seems to aim at satisfying another!. Love wills the good of another's life while lust is done in order to get one's own good!. Hence the maxims that say "love is not selfish while lust is" has been rightly said!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes to me it does exist it means a feeling of wanting to be with someone for the rest of your life!. It surpasses lust because you want that person even after the lust is gone!.You want to have someone who's good company and stimulating, and on the same page as you are as far as your outlook on life!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't think it's love at first sight!.!.!. love takes time and love grows with time!. Just because you're attracted to someone (even if it's in no way sexual) doesn't mean you're in love!. It's just that!. Attraction!.

you can't really define love but i think dictionary!.com does a pretty good job of distinguishing the two!.

lust - intense sexual desire or appetite!.
love - a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Let's consider what that would mean for a moment!. You see someone for the first time!. The totality of what you know about them is how they look!. Perhaps a moment's worth of behavior!. We'll even throw in the tone of their voice and a whiff of their pheromones!.

Now!.!.!. what, exactly, from that list above would you be falling in love with!? Where is the basis for a long-lasting or deep-felt relationship in here!? And the answer seems pretty clear: unless you invoke the supernatural there's NO basis!.

That doesn't solve our problem, though!. There are many people who CLAIM to experience love at first sight!. So for them there is some kind of basis!. And there's a covert hint in the first paragraph!.!.!. it's nothing physical that they can sense!. What they are in love with is an IDEA!.

There is no obstacle at all to a person forming an idea in their mind of a person and becoming immensely fond of it!. They can build it up for years and years!. Probably to some extent everyone does - if you ask someone to imagine the perfect mate they aren't likely to draw a total blank!.

This can make the mechanism for love at first sight pretty straightforward!. There you are with an idea of a perfect person in your head, you meet someone, and a couple neurons connect the sensation with the idea and BAM!. It occurs to you that the person you've just met is that one you've been looking for!.

And sometimes it even turns out to be true!. Either the idea subtly changes or it's flexible enough to match the other person!. Certainly if you go to great lengths to woo someone they are likely to reciprocate!. Or more likely, at least!.

We can see other things happen with this phenomenon as well, though!. Someone falls in love and the person turns out not to match the idea at all!. So they fall out again!. Or maybe the target of their affections is completely unavailable - the picture of a long-dead person, for example!. Does this mean they weren't in love in the first place!? Of course not!. It's just that reality didn't match up with the ACTUAL target of their love!.

And they probably never even realized it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It was not LUST----------it was just something else!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.a sense that I was there to meet her!.

The second time, actually happened BEFORE that in High school!. I saw this vision of a girl!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.wayyyyyyy too pretty for a mope like me!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.and I turned to my friend!.!.!.!.!.!.!.and said, "See that girl!? I am going to marry her someday!. "

And, again, the time was right!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.I just KNEW it!. And sure enough , she fell for my charms this time, and we damn near got married!.

So I tell you!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.there is something to it!. I tell you!.!.!.!.!.!.I KNEW both times!. and I was SURE!. Before I even asked them!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.I just KNEW these two women would change my life, and sure enough they did!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's bullshyt!.
You're attracted to a person at first time cuz you see their looks!.

But once you actually talk to them and know their REAL attitude, you'd regret thinking you're in love with that person!.

One may wonder whether -- romantic -- "love" is not simply a subtle self-deception about one's "lust" (that is, one's drive to procreate)!. In that sense, I do believe in it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

falling in love is easy!.

sustaining it is an entirely different issue!.

it appears as though it is naturally a part of us!. Its not taught to children, in fact, it could be said they teach us!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Never experienced it!. Hell, never experienced love, but doesn't mean it doesn't exist!.

True Love is unconditional, lust is conditional!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Only when we are open and fully present!.!.!.can chemistry and magnetism get to work!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I tried it once!. It only lasted 28 years!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well I think that there is definitly something to love first sight but I don't think people should get this much into it!. I think love first sight just means there is something about that person that hit you and that means something!. However you still have to inspect and see how all aspect of that person are to see if you two would make a good couple or not!.
I hate when people get so much into first sight love that even when tey don't fit at all they do not want to break up and live a ****** life just because it was first sight love!.
Someone has to always step back and look over the situation!.
That is vital I think!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
