Question: Why when I say "metaphysic" does spell check add an S!?
And when it corrected me, it wanted to correct metaphysicS by adding an S!. I had to change the word from metaphysicss back to metaphysic!. Isn't metaphysic (with or without an s,) a word!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

There are two accepted ways of spelling metaphysics!. The dictionary knows of only one and corrects it that way!.

Spell checkers have a spelling database!. If you use a word that is not in that database, it will think it is misspelled even if it is not!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Nope!. Metaphysic is not a word!. What were you trying to say!?

Metaphysics is a type of philosophy!. For a more detailed definition, read the wikipedia entry below:

"Metaphysics is the branch of philosophy investigating principles of reality transcending those of any particular science!. "

It makes about as much sense to use the word 'metaphysic' as it does to change the science class "Physics" to "Physic"!.

If are looking for an adjective, use 'metaphysical'!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, like ordinary physics, there's no "physic", no "metaphysic"!. There's mathematics, but no "mathematic"!. I don't really know why English is like that, except maybe because these things refer to a body or collection of knowledge, and not a single thing, so they're automatically plural, in a way!. Yet we say "Mathematics is difficult" not "Mathematics are difficult!."Www@QuestionHome@Com

It is like saying a pair of pants; Pair is usually two, pants refers to one or many - ain't english the most confusing thing ever!! as my english teacher said, " it is the only language that you could say the following and be understood": "Harry, hurry up down!"Www@QuestionHome@Com
