I think there is a misconception with the theory that "god" can do anything he wants!. Yes, He can do anything he wants as long as it doesn't jeopardize his "god-ness"!.

He could, but that might not make him "god" anymore!. I would have to say No, he can't create a rock bigger than he can move because than that would mean he isn't god!. He would essentially be creating something more powerful than him and thus kicking him out of his position!. He can't create anything that wouldn't make him "god-like" anymore!. It also goes hand in hand with the question!.!.!.can god sin!? god can't sin, because that would mean he isn't "god" anymore!. Or can god be imperfect!? - he can't be imperfect because that would mean he isn't god anymore!.

This is essentially the same as the paradox that occurs when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object!.
Logically only one of things can exist at a time, otherwise physics could not handle the result!.
So either there is a rock so heavy that God cannot lift it (in which case God is not all-powerful) or there is an all-powerful God that will not create the rock because that would cause a paradox!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

God say's he Created everything; He set the Sun, Moon, Stars and the stellar systems in there place!. The sun is still on course and so is the solar systems!. So if he wanted to move the rock/mountain he could dissolve it with lava, he could break it with and earthquake or he could give man the technology to chop it and carve a road thru it!. Assuming God exists, the basic answer is no!. The weight of a rock has no influence on the ease with which God lifts it!. There is no limit to the mass of a rock which God can create, nor the ground/planet he must lift it off, but this does not affect Him!.

For comparison, I have the capability to create (or at least carve out) some rocks!. Of these, some I can lift and others not!. This shows my strengths and weaknesses!. However, what doesn't show any weakness is that I cannot make a rock so pink that I cannot lift it!. No matter how many layers of pink paint I coat a football-sized rock with, I can still pick it up (until the paint starts making it much heavier, at least)!.

Perhaps an even better question is whether God can make a rock so light that he cannot lift it!. This is essentially the same question wrt God!. Once this is understood, a number of answers given to this question look rather cumbersome!. In particular, the idea that God can create a rock too big/heavy to lift, yet lift it anyway misunderstands what logic is!.

A different question is whether God could weaken himself to the point at which he couldn't lift some rocks!. This isn't a philosophical paradox though!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The almighty god!
Who's to say that it can't be moved!? If you look at the bigger picture of the universe, we could not wrap our mind around how little we are!. Any rock that we as people can rationalize would be dwarfed by the the energy in the universe!
The rock that you speak of is only a minute speck of energy just sitting there!.

We say a rock, mountain, planet, collection of planets, because we can see it, but think about how much air and empty space is out there!. It is all energy, some of it you can see some you can't!.

We as humans think in our own little reality, we see and view things in our eyes, our eyes can only pick up a very small spectrum of color!. So by that, I guess anything we can't see is not there!.

That is a good point, we only see our perception of reality!. What we don't know to us, we can't rationalize so it just isn't there!.

If we begin to educate ourself and learn more than just what our perception of the world is, then we see different things!.

The rock you are referring to is only collected energy!. It can be moved and changed into different forms!

If we believe that something cannot be moved then it will never be moved because we will never choose to let our minds acknowledge the fact it has been moved!. (I am speaking more of energy and our perception rather than the rock)

In physical reality, one that we can touch, we are all moving we just perceive we are staying still!. The entire galaxy is moving!.

Energy is always moving from one state to another!!!!!
