A parking violation is what is known as a strict liability offence, which means the mens rea (guilty intent) doesn't need to be proven!. So it doesn't matter if you were insane, the prosecution doesn't need to prove that you knew what you were doing!. Unless you can cast doubt on the allegation that you were parked in the passing lane you'll be found guilty, insane or not!. And if the judge thinks you're not mentally capable of keeping yourself from doing it again, you'll probably get the harshest possible sentence!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think if I were the judge I'd have you committed for evaluation if you pulled that crap in my courtroom And, having been there, I can tell you that you do NOT want to be committed!. It isn't a lot of fun!. First, you lose ALL of your civil rights!. They take away your personal belongings, including your cell phone!. You can't even have your own shampoo because if it has alcohol in it you could swallow it and try to commit suicide! They have classes that you have to attend--like coloring! No joke!. And if you don't attend then they can say you're being uncooperative and commit you for another seven days!. Trust me, hun, pay the ticket and forget the cutesy, cutesy stuff!. The judge is way too busy to appreciate your efforts at humor!. I know--I used to be a deputy clerk!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Look at it this way, If you're going to court and you know the judge is going to screw you, you might as well use the Chewbacca/Insanity defense and get it thrown out!. Or get a totally uncool judge and get nailed for contempt!. Either way you will have a great story to tell!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
