Question: Why can't some people ever admit they are wrong, even when they know they are!?

its superiority complex!. they might have issues with thinking they're better then some people and that if they admit they're wrong to something then they'll fall to the level of the people who they think they're better than!. OR they could be fearful of being wrong!. you know, its kind of like when you lie, sometimes people are fearful of telling the truth because they're scared of being punished or reprimanded!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

admitting they were wrong would be showing vulnerability!.
no one LIKES to admit that they're wrong!. it may be a case of pride, but for others it may be that they might not want to let their guard down and admit to you that they're wrong!. but of course, if they actually believe that they are right, you can't blame them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

People "in general" feel insecure when their abilities, knowledge and beliefs are placed on the butcher block!. That's normal!.

When I have reason to believe someone has given me "wrong" advice or "untruthful" information, I always counter with something like "Your answer is great, give me an example, please"!.

Usually people who are wrong will stutter and finally admit to themselves that perhaps they "may be a bit off"!. LOLWww@QuestionHome@Com

They might be afraid of the consequences that goes with it, the hatred they recieve, and the fact that they showed a flaw!. Think about it, if someone who gloats and shows-off finally slips up, it can give other the opportunity to use it against them, which they cannot accept!. They dont' always know they are wrong!. Even if you know they are, they dont' always admit it to themselves!.

There are those who's minds can't seem to allow them to admit to being wrong!. They have such a need to be right and finding out they are wrong crushes them like you can't understand!.

Some have true medical problems that dont' allow themselves to see themselves as wrong, ever!. The whole world around them would be wrong instead of them!.

But the American population is slowly turning into this type of person too!. There is more conceit, less humbleness, more selfishness today!. Often it comes from a sense of deserving things that parents feed by getting them everything they want!.

It also is a form of control!. Many abusers use it in the beginning!. I am never wrong, it's always you, mentality!. That's how they slowly bend you to their will until you find it impossible to leave!.

Lastly, it always isn't about someone being right or wrong!. There are many shades in between!. What might be right for me, but wrong for you, would be right for ourselves!. If i were to tell you to eat an apple, it's healthy!. And you said it isn't, knowing you were deathly allergic and an apple would kill you!. We'd both be right!. No one would be wrong, though our answers conflict and we'd both know the other was wrong!.

Is it pride that makes you want the "wrong" person to back down and say you are right!? There's a passage i once read, it read something like this!.!.!.

Meaning, how can you truly judge someoen as wrong when there's things wrong within you that you need to deal with!.
YOu are right, no one is perfect, therefore you are not either!. Realize the world isn't that easy!. Ask yourself why you need the other person to be wrong!?

There are people with mental problems that can't be wrong!.!. and then always ask why no one else admits to being wrong!. So make sure you aren't that person either!. Make sure you are wrong at least half of the time!. also, there are common grounds in the middle to meet at and finally, agreeing to disagree!.

No one has to believe in what you believe in!. No one has to think the way you think!. If all had to think the same way, we'd never advance!.

the ego thrives on being right, it comprises of views, opinions, past memories etc!. whenever it is wrong, it loses its base and it thinks it dies!. it actually feels to the ego as if it is dying!. and when you think you are the ego, you think you are actually dying!. so!.!.!. they even stick to the false idea rather than risking to "die"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i guess to some people admitting they are wrong is in their heads a way of saying i'm stupid!. i know my son wouldnt say he was wrong sometimes because he didn't want to appear stupid to people so he'd just not admit he was wrong!. that or mabe they don't see it in their own minds!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's just part a of our "ID" - our makeup as humans!.!. we are programmed to be sure of ourselves!.!. I'd say many people believe they are "right" even though at some level they aren't all that certain!.
