Like december opined !.!.!. hmmmmmm!.

That's a terrific question that certainly explores the edges of that delightfully provocative question the hookah-smoking Caterpillar asked of Alice, Who are YOU!?

It seems -for me, anyway- an approach to a legitimate reply is to first ascertain "risk!." I'm not trying to be critical or picky, or any other such childish nonsense !.!.!. simply attempting to provide a basis for a set of assumptions to use in my response!.

As such, I'll address the second question first: "are there any risks that don't really test our limits!." My answer is No!.

That answer is based on the assumption that risk -either real or perceived- is predicated in some psychological equation where one side of the "Who are YOU!?" knows both limitations as well as past performance and, to some measure, can sit at the edge of the so-called "risk" and recognize it as not risky at all!. As such, our limits aren't tested !.!.!. but our sensibilities are reinforced !.!.!. our limitations remain intact!.

On the other side of that equation is our "Who are YOU!?" trying to ascertain our capability -or our ability to be moved or effected by something!. Inherent in this is risk !.!.!. is the tug-of-war between stasis and movement !.!.!. between the status quo and the revolution !.!.!. between "Who are YOU!?" as is, and "WHO are YOU!?" as yet to become!.

Sitting at the edge of this "risk" is certainly a compelling challenge !.!.!. take the risk and stretch my limits (depending on the degree of risk, possibly even die), or accept my limits and deny the risk!. The former promotes growth, development, increased capacity !.!.!. the latter ensures business as usual!.

So, in answer to your primary question, "Is every risk taken really a travel towards the limits of the self!?" my answer is Yes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

it seems like risks are experiments in sensory experience!. the self (without trying to symbolize what it is) would almost be something that is un-impacted by direct sensory experience other than the act of observation!. the idea of risk is implied by the level of fear our culture assigns to the experience!. in reality though, our 'self' is just watching and our 'persona' defines the limits of the beginning and end of all 'moments' or 'experiences' whether of a 'risky' value or not!.
the 'self' doesn't have any limits!. the 'self' is life!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

that what appear as a risk for you is not a risk for another but would be lets say challenge!. or, more over, rutine!.!.It is not sufficient to be risky but highly sufficient being inspiringly challenged!.That blissfull people would be called a" living success" and if we are assume that our limits stored only in our minds then it becomes clear that mind and its inhabitat only limitation otherwise there is no limit to anything!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you jump off a 20 story building and expect to live, that is foolish not testing one's limits!. Not all risks test limits, some are from stupidity and exceed our limits!. Like that guy from the movie "Into the Wild" He was an idiot if ever there was one!.!.!. Any risk that exceeds our limits that we try to do anyway simply shows that we don't know ourselves!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

People take risks for a variety of reasons !.!.!. to impress others, to end a life (of self or another), for fun, or because that is their only option!. I think it depends on the intent of the risk taken to determine if its testing limits!. With so many variables I would half to say it all depends!.!.!.on the individual and the circumstances!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

there are certainly risks that don't test our limits!.!.!. those risks are the ones that we take on behalf of someone else!.!.!.
risking someone else's money!.!.!. risking someone else's life!.!.!.
the risk may challenge our limits, but it isn't the risk that challenges us, only the conditions set forth!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, every time one walks out the door it's a risk (albeit a small one), but each time it's taken is not a further step towards one's limits!. For a risk to truly test our limits it must be a new risk, one we have not previously taken!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Seems to me that the very word risk implies a test of self!. If you were to do something that wasn't "risky" for you, then you are staying within your comfort zone!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think risks!.!.!.are more like travels taken toward the limitless possibilities we can achieve!.!.!.I like to think of it that way, of discovering what we can do that we never thought we could :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Nothing frightens me more than to know where my limits are!.!.!.!.
I want to believe that every risk I have taken or every risk I will take, will not make me test my limits!.!.!.!. I only wish!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

hmmmm!.!.!.!.!.although we might not think that the risks are testing our limits nor think about them before we take them!.!.!.they do test our limits because we either come out victorious, or we fail!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
