And, to be fair, the discovery that there may be no real answer might often be tougher to accept than the "real answer" itself!.

no, i don't believe so!. Philosophy gives you the tools to really dissect ideas that are hard to quantify or understand!. I find philosophy very hard to read, a page of philosophy is like a chapter of a fictional book- it gave me hell when i studied it at university- but i'll never forget what Philosophy gave to me at University in my first year- suddenly i was able to put ideas to the test that i had always grappled with, was there a God!? what were the logical arguments for and against over the smartest people over the last two thousand years!? How did we come to believe in good and evil, what are they!? How can we fairly dissect an argument to it's base elements and judge it based on its logic and reasoning- avoiding elements of an argument designed to instill emotive truths or 'common sense' judgements (epistemology)!?
I don't think answers get any more real- i was very confused as a young teenager about a great deal, morality, spirituality, politics, my place in the world- philosophy gave me what I needed to confidently take a step into the world on what i knew were my own terms!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Of your question, you make good of the greater point, as does "Way" make good points in his or her comments above!. One thing, rest assuredly is, we have come to that time wherein we undermine ourselves to so heavily rest upon some others' words and turns of thought, falling to their quotations; we are better to carry based upon our own tests and conclusions, which are no less than those whose thoughts are or were touted to be so air-tight, so inpenetrable hitherto our time!.

I prefer a man or woman who speaks his or her own than feel I should be compelled to allude to some precedent in order to know a said superior way, which before was an inferior one!. Allow that we divine these things for ourselves, with less, not more assistance from our so-called betters in the Schools, who, like all of us, are themselves riddled with foibles, peccadilloes, and invective, anyone of which mars the process of reasoning and derails a clearest train of thought!.

I prefer that one might speak from out of his or hers and admit to his or her own humanity first and risk being shouted down than settle for some remove authoritarian's deliberations and reflections, whose experiences, after all, were or are only suited and got-up, for which the principle involving the issues at hand are not quite settled in the first place, regardless of the day!. For after all, what has anyone that accords us facts, or by which we arrive at the truths wherein one guarantees the product is a consistency, carried out with exactitude, or inconsistent where not, with equal accuracy and precision!.
