Question: Is there such a thing as a right question!? Do right questions always have the right answers!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Oh hell yes!.

The right question drives you towards a solution or understanding!. The wrong question defeats & obscures!.

If for example you have just failed at something!.
"Why am I such an idiot!?" defeats!.
"What can I learn from this!?" empowers!.

Do right questions always have the right answers!?

Sure!. Sometimes many, but that's not to say you've found them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you don't have the answer then you can never judge if it's a right question or wrong question!. Once you get the answer , you would be able to judge if it's a wrong or right question!.
It's not required to have right answers , we may end up with some wrong answers !.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I know you do not mean "right" or" wrong" in the moral sense of the words!. Or in the sense of being absolutely correct or incorrect!. Q's in philosophy are not like that!

Asking Q's is both an art and a learned ability! The good Q's help us to understand things like ideas and arguments or theories that help us to begin to understand things that are or were unkown or unfamiliar to us when we decided to seek knowledge for the sake of knowledge and wisdom!. (Way too many here do not seem to understand that when the ask or answer Q's here)

So my answer to you is that there are right Q's and wrong A's and it is the asking of the right Q's that lead to the right A's, or get us nearer to them by the iterative process of philosophical Q&A (aka "Dialectics") The first guys to start asking the right Q's were the Ancient Greeks like Socrates & Plato
and the Chinese philosophers like Lao Tsu and Confucious!

Great Q, I liked phoenix's Answer!. He got my thumb's up!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A right question precedes a right answer, therefore there can not be a right question because we don't know the answer!. Since there are no right questions, there can never be a right answer!.

Douglas Adams gave a good example!.

Question: What is the meaning of life!?
Answer: 42!.

His point is 42 is the right answer, but did you ask a meaningful enough question!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

certain questions I suppose have a right answer!.!.!.1+1=2, nothing more or less, only one truth!. But there are many open ended questions!. If I ask you if a cup of coffee is hot or cold and you say hot, but I believe it's cold, there is no correct solid truth answer because it is about perception!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A right question is one that has a real, objective and measurable answer!. Right questions can easily have wrong answers e!.g:
Q: How old are you!?
A: 1,000,074
This is an objective and measurable answer, but it's still wrong!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You ask questions to gain knowledge!. The only wrong questions are flippant ones designed to really annoy someone!. Yes, that has happened to me on a few occasions; made me feel like performing unnecessary surgery on that person with a letter opener!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

of course there is, but what that question may be is determined by the circumstances and the individual!. whether or not the answer is right is completely subjective!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A right question can lead to a right answer even through the maze of thought and visions!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

"there's no such thing as right or wrong: only that we think so"Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's all relative!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There are always questions!.!.!.and there are good answers!.!.!. that should be enough!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have never heard of a wrong question, but wrong answers yes! but that is my opinion everyone has one!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If there is, that wasn't one of them! ;)Www@QuestionHome@Com
