you really can't unlearn something once you learn it!. if you no longer need it, you can forget it, but it still is there, just not as vividly!. It simply is stored in the long term memory vault!. Even if there is opposing data, you still dont unlearn it, you simply rewrite it!.

The things that you have already learned but are not using is stored into your long term memory!. Each piece of memory or thing that you learned has key words kind of attached to it!. So when you think about something you are doing or something that you learned but need now you pull that from your long term memory and put it into your short term memory for use!. Over time somethings may be hard to retrieve the less you retrieve it!. and what keeps you learning is well the constant storage of information into your memory!. now if you can make sense of that information and put it together and use it you have then in fact learned something like you are doing now from reading this!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There are 4 levels of learning, and you are only in real danger of forgetting a skill from the first 2 levels!.

Level 1: Unconscious Incompetence
You suck at something, and don't even know that you suck at it!. An example is a sport that you never heard of!.

Level 2: Conscious Incompetence
You heard of something and you strive to learn it, and you practice, but you are still bad at it!.

Level 3: Conscious Competence
You are getting good at something, but it requires concentration!.

Level 4: Unconscious Competence
You don't even have to think about the skill, you just do it!. Like breathing, or walking, or driving, or whatever else you are really really good at!.

If you hit level 4 at any skill you'll probably never be bad at it or forget it altogether!. It's the level 2's that we loose over time!. And some of the level 3's, but those can be relearned pretty easily!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
