Question: The ultimate goal!?
The function of a government is to guide a nation into a state of utopia and act as a reactive agent for maintaining it, no more, no less!. There are many ideas on policy, what function would achieve this but my question is what is the actual state!. Write as much or as little as you want!. The complete answer would be the union of all ideas, except for contradiction, we cannot hope to solve a paradox!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
We all desire utopia,
A state of perfect bliss;
The trouble is, we disagree
On what we mean by this!.

Your Thatcherite Conservative
Abhors constraints on wealth;
Competitiveness, he believes,
Maintains a nation's health!.

Your socialist, by contrast, finds
Equality more moral;
High taxes are a fiscal tool
With which he has no quarrel!.

The two would steer the government
On quite opposing courses,
For one is moved by Jesus' words
And one by market forces!.

The 'union of all ideas'
Is therefore sought in vain;
The perfect state is something which
Mankind cannot attain!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The purpose of government is to guide a nation out of self-annihilation!. A good day at the market is a bonus!. Utopia is someday, maybe building a pyramid, or writing down a few laws that don't end up under the chariot wheels!.

This IS utopia!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If a State wants to guide the nation into becoming a Utopia, it should immediately and totally destroy itself!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
