I believe faith is what you really believe to be true, with the caviat that you may not know exactly why you believe it!. I don't believe that faith is paying homage or giving lip service to something that deep down you don't really believe is true!. And trusting some idea that has shown itself not to agree with reality time and time again is just denial, not faith!.
So I say faith can come from understanding, but it doesn't have to!. Trust, once broken, has to be re-earned!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Faith progresses from a starting point characterized by trusting and perhaps also some understanding, but also perhaps more along the lines of blind faith!. From its starting point understanding develops, sometimes alongside increasing causal experience!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
