Question: Can you see the workings of the Law of Love!? Just what is the Law of Love!?
"Whether humanity will consciously follow the law of love, I do not know!. But that need not disturb me!. The law will work just as the law of gravitation works, whether we accept it or not!. The person who discovered the law of love was a far greater scientist than any of our modern scientists!. Only our explorations have not gone far enough and so it is not possible for everyone to see all its workings!." Mahatma GandhiWww@QuestionHome@Com

"Law of Love" is working all the time or else we would never exist! It can not be 'seen' but can be fully experienced!.

All that exist - living and nonliving, animate and inanimate - ( people, plants, animals, earth, water, space and so on ) are all connected like 'pearls strung on a thread'!. There is perfect mutuality, complementarity, equality, nurturing each other among themselves and this or what flows in that connection is Love without which no being can survive!.

Example : I can not survive without oxygen, the tree 'gives' me that!. Tree can not survive without carbon-dioxide, I convert the oxygen I take from tree into carbon dioxide and 'give' it to the tree!. Is it not a perfect/needed give and take in full equality, amity and that too unconditionally!? If this is not love, what else!?!Www@QuestionHome@Com

"Love, friendship, respect, admiration are the emotional response of one man to the virtues of another, the spiritual payment given in exchange for the personal, selfish pleasure which one man derives from the virtues of another man’s character!."
"To love is to value!. Only a rationally selfish man, a man of self-esteem, is capable of love—because he is the only man capable of holding firm, consistent, uncompromising, unbetrayed values!. The man who does not value himself, cannot value anything or anyone!."

The law of love may be:
"To say ‘I love you’ one must know first how to say the ‘I!.’ "

I think you've lifted this passage from his autobiography, 'My Experiments with Truth'!. I wish you would tell us what his Law of Love stated!

Modern scientists know nothing of working of love, leave alone make a law that applies to all humanity!. All they work on is making weapons of mass destruction in the name of saving mankind!.

I take heart in Mahatma's confidence that 'the law will work just as the law of gravitation works'!. Yes, it works in mysterious ways! That's how the humanity survives even under grievous threats of annihilation!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Golden rule is to treat others like you would like to be treated, but you must first love yourself before this is of any value!.

Dennis Child suggested that the strongest motivator in human behavior was to act to reinforce our view of ourself (and the world)!. If we believe we do not deserve love or sucess we will reject opportunities that may show we can be better people and bring others down to the level we believ we dwell in!.

Those that love themselves and believe the world is their oyster will patiently turn their irritations into pearls!.

Fearing evils in our selves and others leads to hate, whilst belief in self leads to love and the determination to get up when knocked down that leads to sucess!.

Babies when born do not distinguish between themselves and others!. They have instincts that make faces attractive and basic social skills but they may be as much reflex as appreciation of social niceties!.

When a baby slaps its mother it firstly does so out of accident or mimicry, not realizing the pain it causes!. Slapping the baby back is one way of getting this message across, but it also valdates the action!.

In adults we supposedly realize the pain we cause others and seek to help them out of sympathy or empathy!. We also hopefully have the social skills to realize that causing harm to others will bring emnity and trouble to us!.

Self interest however is not the only force at work!. Most animals have an instinct to not kill those like themselves, especially those displaying pittiful pleas, or helplessness!.

A crying baby's helplessness supposedly demands our help, but can drive parents to thoughts of murder if taken too far!.

We have instincts for both love and hate, and societies or environments can in theory be designed to engender love!.

Sadly our instincts for greed and persecution of persons not in our in group (or different from us), often lead to hate and atrocities!.

Som suggest tha the realization that we are all part of the same whole and essentially the same, may lead to us loveing others as ourselves!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It is a universal law that need not be written to be understood!. Gandhi was right, it is as real and true as the law of gravity!. When we work within this law, we are at peace and happy, and when we resist or reject it, we are all out of sorts and not *being* our true selves!. Oh, and the law is basically this, "Love is All!."Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think Gandhi was referring to a natural brotherhood of man; all humans feel kinship to one another, in some way or another, so when we acknowledge each other as fellow human beings, we can not treat each other badly!. In other words, Gandhi thinks it is natural for humans to feel interconnected and to do right by one another!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes indeed!

God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him!. It makes no difference as to the name of God, since love is the real God of all the world!. The glorious one God of love!. For after all, the world is built of love!.
