When you say I am scared, you feel a physical retraction!. When sad, you feel a weight (literally a depression)!. When angry, the body tenses!. When hurt it is often like a blow to the stomach & the head!. This is why emotions are called feelings, because we actually feel them, it just takes a little awareness to recognise that our emotions are housed in our physical being!. The mind interprets & labels these feelings - and often runs away with them! When an animal reacts to stimulus, it reacts immediately, & when the stimulus has gone the animal moves on!. When a human reacts, we generally dwell in neurosis & allow the perception of threat to remain in the ego/mind and build upon itself!. This is because other animals are in their bodies & in the here-and-now - the human animal needs to relearn this trick!.Www@QuestionHome@Com It hurts in a place where one's responses are touched to desire or need to say "ouch!.!.!.something just wrenched something in my awareness!" Whether that is the Soul, the Spirit, the Ego, the Reservoir of "knowledge" or impression we may have of Ourselves and other things - that would continue to be a mystery!. And then!.!. depending, that small corner of your mind that you lock away is the part that takes over and you're in a way not yourself and sort of not under the same control!. It sometimes breaks your heart!. Sometimes it breaks your mind!.
