Not facing up to the truth and avoidance are the nearest equivalent; sometimes-but not always- this can be injurious!. Sometimes , rose-tinted spectacles can cast a nicer glow on the world!. Lying to others again can sometimes be the best policy-to spare other's feelings, sometimes for self-protection!. There are no hard rules!.Www@QuestionHome@Com There are no "self-sins", really!. Sins are social grievances!. A man on a deserted island is incapable of sinning, because there is no one for him to sin against!. Therefore lying to another is the only sin, not lying to one's self!. But, a man can do great harm to himself by lying to himself!. He may, for example, believe that prayer alone would be a far better cure for an infection than taking the antibiotics that the doctor precribed!. also, a self-lie may grow into a social lie, which would harm many beside himself!. While not a sin, it is best to avoid lying to one's self altogether!. Of course, there are a few cases where lying helps, such as "you look great in that dress!" when viewing the bride's wedding photos!. also, a man on a desert island may be far happier telling himself that he is not alone because the fairies are protecting him - at least he won't go into a state of despair!.
