We are Homo sapiens sapiens!. We are a sub-species of Homo sapiens, who no longer exists!.

We did not know we were Homo sapiens sapiens until we learned anthropology!. There were other species before Homo sapiens, but they were still men!. The next Man must be a sub-sub-species of Homo sapiens, OR--a new line of species would have to come from the same genus as Homos, the genus of Homo!. The only other species in that genus is the chimp!. The Great Apes go back one grouping further, to the tribe of Hominini!. The chimps are in their own genus called Pan, with one living cousin in that genus, called the Bonobos!.

Who will succeed Homo sapiens sapiens!? We probably won't know until long after it happens, and then the Christian fundamentalists will prevent the science from being called science, and the argument over evolution will become even more drawn out!.

As a matter of fact, the move is on right now to reclassify Chimps from the Pan genus to the Homo genus!.
