In spirituality, the human being is often conceived as being in the illusion of individual existence, and separated from other aspects of creation!. This "sense of doership" or sense of individual existence is that part which believes it is the human being, and believes it must fight for itself in the world, is ultimately unaware and unconscious of its own true nature!. The ego is often associated with mind and the sense of time, which compulsively thinks in order to be assured of its future existence, rather than simply knowing its own self and the present!.

Disconnect means to be in a state of consciousness that is aware of the body and mind objectively and independently!. That state of consciousness is powerful enough to act on the mind and body in a way that we don't usually experience!. As a result one becomes more humble, less selfish and accepting of all that is, as one is aware that everything shares the same existence!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The ego is what we use to define ourselves!. We formed it over years and years, and with not just a little help from others!. The problem with it is that it is the equivalent of our imaginary friend, only existing in our minds!. We are all One, but we are not all the same, and this is important to note!. However, our uniqueness does not come from our personality or our ego!. Our spirit is a part of a larger whole, much like a flute is part of an orchestra, and together we play our unique parts in the Symphony of Life!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Disconnect from the ego means to stop having 2 much pride, and being arrogant!. You know how there is people who thinks they are always right, or they think they can do anything, or when having a girlfriend or boyfriend, if they do something wrong and that girl or boy leaves them, they are like, i'm too fine 4 this person anyway, but deep down inside they really care!. Those are all examples!. No it does not mean to live unselfishly even though you should or u don't have to lose your uniqueness and personality!. Just have pride, self esteem, BUT, don't take it too far!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Freud called the ego the "executive" of the mind's faculty to reason!.

How, and why, would you "disconnect" from that!?

Egoism is the opposite of altruism!. http://www!.iep!.utm!.edu/e/egoism!.htm

Altruism is "self-abnegation," a "disconnect" from the executive that makes you "you!." http://www!.ditext!.com/runes/a!.html

A self-abnegating person with no executive powers of reasoning would be considered--probably--insane!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i believe its impossible to disconnect from ego
we need it to survive, (ie!.!.i can do this, or i can achieve this, or i think i am right)
what we can do is recognise or learn to recognise ego
and then stop it when it could be damaging to others or ourselves!.!.!.(ie!.!.like insisting we are right, )

i can get on a treadmill of thinking i know everything
and then realise its ego
and i am better off not knowing anything!.!.!.!.i am more relaxed then!.!.!.
and i am less intimidating to others tooWww@QuestionHome@Com

I think it means caring much less about yourself and much more for those around you, especially when they are in need!.

I worked with severely handicapped children once upon a time and found no pleasure in worrying about myself!. I put everything I could into helping these children!. But the ego is still there, it may just become dormant for a while!. Away from this job now for a while I am moaning and groaning for myself again!. I disappoint myself at times!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Great question!.!.!.!. losing your ego basically means letting go of small mindedness, relieving your mind of insignificant wants and needs, and realizing your true self!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ego is "I" ness!. Ego encased in body is physically conscious!. In semi-super conscious state ego is unconscious!.
At a time ego remains only in ONE conscious state!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

it basically means not letting pride dicate your actions!. obviously if you have no ego at all, you'd simply sit and die!.

There's a balanceWww@QuestionHome@Com

to live unselfishly!.Think of others before yourself!.Not impossible but rather difficult!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

To be humble and more unselfish!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
