Read the section "Pseudoscientific exaggeration of the reasearch" in the Wiki article on "Lateralization of Brain Function" http://en!.wikipedia!.org/wiki/Right_brain!.!.!.

Forget about left- or right- brained; your question is no brained!. It is just an ad hominem attack against people who are analytic!. I think I have a good balance of right- and left-brained characteristics - I am left-handed, intuitive, and have always had an active imagination!. On the other hand I also love playing chess, appreciate analytic philosophy, and think that logic is very important!.

To you, I would say that just because you are not able to appreciate the beauty of analytical thought (and yes, it is beautiful), you shouldn't be making personal attacks against those who do!. Many "right-brained" philosophers have found their highly rational approaches to things to be very satisfying, both intellectually and spiritually!. Spinoza, who created one of the most rational philosophical systems ever, found rational thinking and philosophy to be extremely beautiful!. For you to reject people who practice this type of thinking as miguided and unhappy is just the kind of closed mindedness that you accuse them of!. Open your eyes!.

Your example of the world being round, not flat, as an example for rejecting "linear" thought is absurd!. It was scientific investigation and linear thought which helped to prove that the world was round!. The only way I can make sense of what you are saying is if I understand you to be making a straw man out of "linear" by taking it to mean believing exactly what is in front of your eyes!. That is absurd!.

For you to say nothing is really linear is just as silly!. Have you investigated everything!? And what do you mean by "nothing"!? Surely some things are linear (the progression of time in the course of human history)!. And isn't the blanket statement that "nothing is really linear" again the same type of over-simplification and ignorant approach you accuse left-brained people of making!?

Again, I am left-handed, so presumably I am right-brained!. Still, I have learned enough to have a powerful appreciation for the kind of thinking most often associated with "left-brained" thinkers!. It is out of not personal defensiveness that I wrote this answer, but just because I cannot stand when people use this forum to make ignorant ad-hominem attacks to support their own assumptions and biases!. That is what the politics section is for, not philosophy!.

Finally, Einstein's quote is always taken out of context!. You can find the complete paper at http://www!.update!.uu!.se/~fbendz/library/!.!.!.

Einstein would not at all agree with what you have stated here!. In fact the paper the quote is from ends with:
"The further the spiritual evolution of mankind advances, the more certain it seems to me that the path to genuine religiosity does not lie through the fear of life, and the fear of death, and blind faith, but through striving after rational knowledge!."

P!.S!. Spinoza's pantheism is practically atheism!. He identifies nature with God and God with nature!. There are no conscious dieties in his philosophy, no personal God, no "unnatural" miracles, no "supernatural" forces!. He does indetify with God, but uses the word to mean the natural world, as did Einstein!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Leftists are often guided by Negativism, of destruction, deconstruction, and finding differences and maintaining differences!. negativism has a power to attract young and enthusisatic minds, which often provides the thrill of an iconoclasm!. But unlike you speak, the leftists are not analytical, they are often lead by blind emotions and obsessions of fetish ideas about being intellectuals, yet they are often nnot very intelligent also!. Leftists are quick, instant, and over reacting, reductionistic, but ultimately to no point!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

-_- Chill!. I'm right-brained and religious too, but that doesn't mean that we should wage war on the people who think the other way!. You know we need both kinds to run the world and make progress!. It's not as is left-brained folks are inferior or anything, so stop acting as if it is!. We're all just as good as each other, just different, so I think you should try to be less intolerant!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, I don't think you have to worry about anyone accusing YOU of being left-brained or analytical!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't understand the point you're trying to make!.

but albert einstein is often quoted by referring to god but he always means it metaphorically!.

Einstein was an atheist!.

the point he was making in that quote, is that you need imagination in order to make sense of science, you neexd creativity!. for instance it was known for a long time how to draw representations of 4 dimensional objects mathematically, uin a similar way as you would draw 3 dimensions using only two on a topographical map, instead they would draw a 3d image and have it represent 4!.

but this makes no sense, until you think of the 4th dimension as time, then the object becomes an object in motion!. you see you need the imagination, the creative part of calling the 4th dimensions time!. without it you have only math!. that's what he was trying to say!.

he was also quoted as saying something like, it is better to have an imagination than intelligence!. i'm not sure if those are the exact words but it's something like that!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
