Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Well, religion yes, theology no!.

Most philosophers spent years in arguments of the existence or non-existence of God, after-life !.!.!.etc!. Religion is the biggest, unanswered question ever it has been the main pursuit of philosophy since the beginning of time!. It is only natural to have it on the philosophy section!.

Questions about meditation, faith, history and any other specific religions and their rulings or whatever should go in the R&S section, but the general speculations should stay here!. Mixing both together though (trying to philosophize religion or "theologize" philosophy ruins both of them as far as I'm concerned, you can do the relating in your own mind, but it won't make as much sense on the outside as it did on the inside)!.

But then again philosophy and religion are very closely related,(not just here, but in the real world too) and were (and still are) repeatedly mixed (scholasticism for example)!. They are both based on abstraction and beliefs !.There is no right and wrong in religion, just like there is no right and wrong in philosophy!. Philosophers *are* believers (maybe not of God but of something)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, let's face it, religion is in fact a subset of philosophy!. If you follow a particular religion, it is, by default, your personal philosophy!. That's why people have a hard time sorting them out!.

also, note that Yahoo! Answers is a little tough to navigate!. Most music questions wind up under performing arts, tho' there's a separate category (not even under arts and humanities) for music!. If you were new here and looking for religion, would you think to click on "society and culture" first!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

This, from one of history's most ardent atheists:

"!.!.!.you must remember that religion is an early form of philosophy, that the first attempts to explain the universe, to give a coherent frame of reference to man’s life and a code of moral values, were made by religion, before men graduated or developed enough to have philosophy!. And, as philosophies, some religions have very valuable moral points!. They may have a good influence or proper principles to inculcate, but in a very contradictory context and, on a very—how should I say it!?—dangerous or malevolent base: on the ground of faith!."

Religion that is based on primitive superstition and ritual is not connected to philosophy, but when we get in to the realms of spirituality, and topics such as the soul, consciousness, good and evil, conscience, death and life after death just to name a few, spirituality and philosophy do start to cross paths!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Philosophy is inherent in Religion!.

Religion introduces us to Philosophy!. Later with age and experience, as you gather more knowledge, you may or may not be able to separate the two satisfactorily!.!.!.

There is no hiding anywhere! Everything emerges as and when required!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Religion is beliefs and conclusions, while philosophy doesn't have beliefs or conclusions!. Philosophy is more like a science than an art!. But these categories that YA has put these subjects in pretty much conform to our educational system!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

yes and no

the questions that assume god , like "why does god do!.!.!.!.!?" drive me nuts, philosophy entails all religions and all 2,500 gods and no gods!. But it's still philosophy!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
