The human brain appears, in my opinion, to be wired to operate in generalities first, with exceptions layered on!. Life is a series of interactions based on generalities!. This allows the mind to deal with nearly automatic responses to the events around us without us having to spend seconds/minutes/hours of research and decision with every decision (no matter how small) that gets made during the course of our day!. Without generalities, people would be frozen in indecision - I know people who suffer from this type of thing at times!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Generally, no!. Generalisations are compression algorithms which allow our puny brains to cope with the world around us!. Can you imagine the amount of thinking required if we treated every apple as an entirely different thing from every other apple, every fruit as unrelated to other fruit, every plant as a unique being with no relation to other plants!? People argue over how to categorise the world endlessly, but it's still much better than not categorising!.
