I am usually pretty good at differentiating between the genuine compliments and the butt-kissers!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

yes

I have learned from my family members, from wife to kids, that I frequently am hurt and disappointed when they just say things they _think_ I want to hear!.

I have also learned that if I insist people tell me "the truth" as they know it, I also will generally be hurt!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

That depends on the person's character, some are just do-gooders and pay lip service, others may be sincere in saying what you want to hear for comfort!.

Who knows, maybe they just say the most obvious because they are busy dwelling on their own problems!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

No!. I knew all along that people tell white lies to one another all the time!. Especially the religious one!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
