Before us there was "Homo sapiens;" before them various species of man go back 2!.3/2!.6 million years!. All of these species are of one genus, however, and goes back to the 'tribe' of Hominini, which includes Chimps!. I think chimps are quite intelligent!. Ever watch one play checkers!?
