i think existintial is a great jumping off point for thinking about things like that!.!.!.especially for me!. pre-college i was raised southern baptist!. by the time i got to college, i was so sick with the hipocritical doctrine that i heard, that i was full blown atheist!. but with that came a lot of depression!.!.!.it's a lot for all the mushy, spiritual insides of you to be told they don't exist!. and i was taking a philosophy class and we were doing the existential path and i found myself so interested in it, even though i disagreed/questioned everything!. the logical path was just what my brain needed!. i read albert camus's "the stranger" and it hit me!.!.!.this is hugely depressing!.!.!.this whole there is nothing so what's the point in being alive and all that crap!. and i just embraced the idea that okay, yeah, there is a strong possibility that there is absolutely no point to our existence but hey does that mean i'm going to sit around and be a pussy about it!.!.!.!.NO! i learned to appreciate the fact that i'm A) living a pretty rockin life PERIOD B) have the moral constitution to question my pretty rockin life and it value C) made a conscious decision to explore what i thought was initially fruitless!. eventually, i adapted a more agnostic approach to religion!. for me, it's conforting to acknowledge some sort of energy that doesn't necessarily lead us or is even personified, but initiated our existence!. you gotta give props! but the choice is there, i think that's the point!. you get to figure it out!.!.investigate it!.!.!.!.rationallize!.!.!.come up with your own philosophical game plan!. take advantage of it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

So true dude!. I did a college course in existentialism and it was SO FREAKING INTENSE!.

To reconcile the two!.!.!. that's the rub eh!? Like, to realise all this is completely pointless - and yet so incredibly, heartbreakingly, desperately important!. We're all going to die - but none of us want to!. We want to squeeze every drop of life out of what we have - but why!?

I think the only way to reconcile the two is to remain detached from life, always asking questions; but at the same time, to involve ourselves passionately with other human beings!.

To forget self; to just work towards bettering the lives of the other wretched people on our wretched planet; to find joy in the transience of life!.

Love is really the only thing in the universe that counts!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

hey try to look at the bright side
